I prefer 'less' intelligent girls but I'm not one to dictate what 'intelligence' is and what isn't.

I prefer simplicity in women.

I'm really into philosophy and politics and love having deep conversation about these things with a girl I'm attracted to but she doesn't have to be as 'knowledgable' about these subjects as me and I'd rather she not.

For example I think everyone has their own philosophical beliefs, it's just I know a variety of influential philosophists, have read Nietzsche, and know plenty of philosophy disciples, but she can just give me her own opinions of the world.

it's a little hard to describe. Good example:

Me: "I'm an Existentialist, which means I believe life has no objective meaning and we create our own individual meaning. I'm also a bit of a Nihilist sometimes. I somewhat believe in Determinism and Fatalism. What's your 'philosophy on life'?"

Her: "Well, I dunno. I guess what's most important to me is just living a happy life, live life to the fullest cause you could be gone tomorrow, value the people in your life the most and hope they're there for you till the end, even if life ends earlier than it should."

Just like I'd much rather a girl have some 'basic' opinions on equality, globalization, economy, multiculturalism, etc. without being actively involved and without having delved deeply into understanding what these things are or what they mean.

Say a girl who wants gender equality without being an active Feminist or identifying one but just saying "I want gender equality".

See a lot of people are this way.

They just have opinions on everything, we all do, but we don't delve into these thingS.

For example I have opinions about history but know very little of it.

A girl though might be studying history and have great knowledge of it.

Well I just want a non-studious girl.

A girl not especially knowledgable or interested in politics, philosophy, economics, sociology, theology, anthropology, zoology, history, art, technology, etc. but still has those 'basic' opinions on these things just like everyone else.

Maybe philosophy though as that's literally my favorite thing to talk about.

Is ego boost a part of it?

Yes, yes it is.

It's kind of fun when people think I'm 'sooo' smart when I've barely even showed them the kind of stuff I think about.

And no, it doesn't get boring for me to be the more 'knowledgable' one about a certain topic.

I'm not smug about it, but it's fun to see another person's perspective on it.

I don't mean that in a condescending way, I mean for example with the philosophy example I said before, I'd genuinely be intrigued and interested in what she says and has to say and would love to hear more. :)

Geeze yes.

I dated a guy a long time ago who was just downright dumb and arrogant about it. We were in a restaurant and talking - I mentioned how pretty the leaves were (it was the beginning of autumn). He mentioned something about winter coming and anyway it became apparent that he was under the impression that the REASON the planet has seasons was because the planet is at the furthest from the sun in the winter and closest in the summer. When I mentioned axial tilt, he scoffed. He even pulled a waiter over to try to prove me wrong, which obviously didn't go well. So not only was he proven wrong by both a girl and a complete stranger, he was embarrassed.

I can't date someone who doesn't even exhibit a basic third grade science education. I'm ashamed for them.

Don't do that.

Someone with predatory instincts might be turned off by intelligence since they're looking for the weakest and most vulnerable, now how you define intelligence is another matter but I'll just assume the traditional academic sense. Honestly, I come away surprised how unintelligent and the lack of the intellectual curiosity so many people have. Unless somebody is Einstein, I don't think I'd be intimidated by their intelligence and even then it's how they communicate and utilize that intelligence. People don't like arrogance, I think a lot of people associate that with being intelligent.

I actually did but I used Australia. He did not KNOW that anything south of the equator HAD opposite seasons. Had never heard of that at all. 8O

LOL not that I'm aware of, but I don't know for sure. I ousted him from my life long ago when he became controlling and bordering on abusive (like throwing a six-pack of beer at my head). I left and never looked back. I don't take that crap from anyone. Esp someone who has questionable intellect.

Did he drink a lot? I knew a lot of special kinds of idiots in Wisconsin and I feel like it's because of how many functional alcoholics are in the state. I drank like crazy when I was there, the whole culture behind it seemed messed up but maybe that was just my peer group. A lot of Wisconsin to me is a pretty close minded socially conservative place with pretty tightly knit communities where if you're from there then so probably were your parent's and parent's parent's, I was unfortunate enough to grow up Milwaukee so I'd never really fit in in the small towns my parent's were from. Good ole boys network as we'd like to say.

I think it's just surprising to find out how stupid the average is, like a lot of what I know and have retained are because I thought they were things you were suppose to remember but I guess knowing all the states and capitals isn't something most people spend a lot of time on.

No this is when I lived in Missouri, which is a whole other animal entirely lol.

You're right though, there are a lot of good ol boys in WI who live their lives around alcohol but here I think it's a lot to do with the fact that you're basically snowed in for six months out of the year. So if you have no hobbies, you fall back on drinking. I live in Madison where there's a lot to do even when it's below zero outside - I can't imagine living in one of those backwater towns.

Of course you will find people like that but that is besides the point I was trying to make. You can't simply write off people as dumb. Even with a person that doesn't know say about science or maths their is likely something the person has an area of skill in and can be very knowledgeable and intelligent about.

This person is probably an exception.

No I understood your point. I write people off and call them "dumb" not necessarily because they don't know about axial tilt, but because they're WILLFULLY ignorant and have zero intellectual curiosity.

There's an anti-intellectual trend amongst quite a number of people, where learning in general is looked down upon in favor of low brow entertainment and self-indulgence. That's boring. And it's impossible to bond with someone like that. They don't necessarily need to be on the same page, but at least reading the same book as you.
