Anyhow, now let me get on my soapbox. Sometimes weight problems are genetic and there isn't much you can do about it short of surgery. But many other times, the problem is because of mothers refusing to breast feed and using formula instead. Worse, and is frequently seen in the seriously obese, mothers use home made formula (karo syrup and sweetened condensed milk) that has a near 100% correlation to obesity problems in children and later as adults.

So if you ever have children, please remember the hell you will condemn your children to if you don't breast feed.

[end soapbox mode]

I don't know if my mother breastfed me or not. I'll ask her later I guess. >.>

I know my grandmother did. Her breasts grew out to a E when she had four kids and since I'm built similar to her, it'll probably happen to me too. After her kids grew past that stage, her boobs are down to a DD. I'm afraid for mine to get that big. I like my Cs. >.<

You mite have a much easier time finding guys after
I couldn't be breast-fed; I think I had some kind of allergies or something cuz I had to be on special formula & my parents had a very difficult time getting me to eat anything. They wer worried I was going to starve but now I'm overweight. There's lots of things that affect people's weight besides diet & exercise. I think people have different metabolisms & are affected differently by food & exercising. Mental/emotional issues can be a huge factor as well sometimes. I've been eating a lot lately party because I'm kind of lonely & don't care about my weight. I have little motivation to try to eat healthy rite now. At least when I eat snacks, fast-food & other junk; it taste good & I feel full after. If I had someone in my life rite now; I'd be happier & I'd have motivation to eat healthier but I do not have anyone rite now so I'm happier being overweight instead of feeling like I'm starving. If I wanted to lose weight fast; I'd give myself anxiety attacks; I can barely eat then & I spend a lot of time in the bathroom
Some people posted about how guys want to be able to lift their women but I'd have to find someone extremely tiny to be able to do that because I'm very weak & I mite have problems cuddling in bed cuz I'd crush her or I won't be able to have my legs wrapped around her's cuz she'd be to short. God I'm lonely rite now

I was breastfed (entirely I believe) and I have a barrage of health issues. Sucky genes I guess :?:

I don't have hypothyroidism, but that's what has happened to me to. I smoke (lightly as well) but it has never had an effect on my weight. Neither does ritalin either.

Sorry I guess I'm hijacking this thread  But OP, if you read this, know that there are other people that have major problems losing weight as well.

My husband is overweight and he was losing weight. Everyone says he has lost lot of weight but he is still fat. He started losing it when he changed his eating habits and he walked to work and back after he get off the train and his job also helped him lose weight because he had to lift things and move. Then he had another job where he had to be on his feet and it also helped him lose weight but now his weight has been the same. His body had decided to stay at that level and he won't do any other work outs because of his feet.

He has severe birth defects in his feet where they cause him pain if he is on them too much so he has to stay off of them as much as possible when he is home or else he be too much in pain to do his job. He doesn't let his feet stop him from working so he lives in pain 24/7. He doesn't even eat very much either. He will have cereal and then for lunch he will have a sandwich which is wheat bread with ham and then for dinner he makes himself corn dogs. That's his usual meals. Sometimes he has other things too like Top Ramen, pizza he makes, chicken, peas or corn, stuffing, hamburger helper.

Something to consider is that it may not be your weight, so much as the lack of self confidence that it's causing, that may be putting people off. When I posted pictures of 3 women that I find attractive in this thread it isn't simply the shape of their bodies that I find attractive. Their level of confidence and outgoing nature is also something I find very attractive. So I find the larger woman as attractive as the other two, because she seems to be the most confident/outgoing (intelligence is something else I find attractive in women, so they could alternatively be shy and quiet if they show high intelligence, but extreme lack of confidence would still be a problem, as it's often a sign of psychological problems).

You certainly shouldn't be listening to anyone who is so shallow as to think that being above the average weight for someone of your height is unhealthy (in fact what most consider healthy is actually under a healthy weight, and those people are responsible for many people's poor mental health, which becomes much more serious a health issue than their weight is). While weight can be down to bad health, you can be well above what these idiots consider to be a healthy weight, and still be far more healthy than someone at their ideal weight (diabetes and heart disease are not limited to people above average weight). Basically, if you are living a healthy lifestyle, then you are healthy, your weight is natural, and you have nothing to be ashamed of. If your weight remains high despite your lifestyle, then it should only be of concern if it is very high, as that is a sign of another health problem.

I'm fine with it really. I like hearing other people's ideas and struggles. It helps me knowing that it's not just me. >.>

While I'm here, I may as well update peoples. I started exercising a hell of a lot more. Here's the program I'm doing:

7am: 20 minute brisk walk (wakes me up with the fresh morning air)
Breakfast: bowl of low-fat granola (or blueberry oatmeal, depending on my cravings)
9am: 15-30 minutes on the exercise bike at 70-80 rotations per minute. (My legs feel like lead afterwards but I feel SO GOOD.)
Lunch (11 or noon) : Some form of low-fat sammich (yay flatbreads!) or egg substitute with reduced fat cheese and hot sauce (I LOVE Frankie's Red Hot Sauce).
1pm: 30 minute core workout with 5 pound kettle bell (I'll upgrade to 10 next week, when I'm used to the movements).
Dinner (4pm or 5pm): Some low-cal low fat dinner I make with grilled meats accompanied with a salad of some variety. (Strawberry and Spinach salad is my favorite!) :)
7-8pm: 50 cal Fruit pop, homemade smoothie or a cup of yogurt for dessert. ^_^

After all this, I feel sore but it feels good. My head is in a happy place. As far as the food goes, I don't feel deprived of anything really. The commercials for restaurant food don't even tempt me anymore. ^_^

Wow, that sounds great Erisad. I'm currently about to start a weight loss regime also, although the amount I intend to lose is pretty small (2kg, or 5lbs). I'm currently 57kg, and aiming for 55kg (or 125lbs and aiming for 120lbs?). Not sure about the exercise yet, as I don't have much spare time during the day, but I'm walking everywhere so I'm getting in at least 1-2hrs walking a day anyway.

With food:

Breakfast = A scoop of gluten free museli, with natural yoghurt and one chopped apple/pear/banana.

Lunch = Cold meat and salad, or one toasted ham/cheese/tomato sandwich (gluten free bread) and salad.

Dinner = What college provides (generally curry/stew and rice) but a small serve, consisting of approx 1/4 protein, 1/4 carbs, and 1/2 vegetables/salad. No desserts except on special occasions.

I get by quite nicely on that diet, and generally enjoy it too. Biggest difficulty for me is avoiding chocolate. My favourite meal of the day out of those is definitely breakfast.

I'm not familiar with museli. It looks (based on the pic on Wikipedia) and sounds good though. XD

College food. I'm not looking forward to going back to that in late August. We're getting a new food provider (Airmark? I don't now how to spell it) and I'm told it's pretty good. I'm also working out a workout schedule with a friend of mine so we can work out at the university gym when we have time. I also wish to have a choreographed fight in our Renaissance Club's dinner theatre in the winter so I'll be exercising during rehearsal. Maybe I can get one in our spring faire too. ^_^

I'll pick some up the next time I'm at the grocery store. :)

I didn't schedule one yet. >.<

Mom and I agreed that it would be best if I used a more active exercise regiment for a few weeks first. If I don't see or feel even a minor difference in about 2-3 weeks, then we can schedule one. I feel a difference in my energy levels, quality of sleep, my focus (focusing without Adderall? That's a first!) and my attitude. I actually looked in the mirror today with no make up on after working out and said "I look good today." I can't remember the last time I was able to say it honestly. ^_^

Erisad,

Remember not to eat less than 1200 calories per day when dieting. What happens is that you digestive system makes up about 80% of your basal metabolism. If you try going without food, suddenly your digestive system has nothing to do and your metabolism shifts into low gear. You may actually gain weight with a diet less than 1200 calories.

Oh, and the surgical stuff....

1. Liposuction. Only good for subcutaneous fat. Makes fat blobs into better looking fat blobs.
2. Gastric Bypass. Heavy surgery. Forced diet by reducing the size of the stomach.
3. Lap Band. Minor surgery. Requires frequent adjustments. Works by choking off the esophagus causing you to get sick every time you eat more than a few tablespoons of food.

I don't think I'll have a problem with going less than 1200 calories. If my math is correct, I've been eating around 1400-1600 daily, when my base metabolism rate is around 1930.

As tempting as a quick fix is, I don't think I'll be able to handle the side effects of it. Gastic Bypass turned my most recent stepmother into a narcissistic b***h. Even when my dad was willing to make meals to fit the diet, she felt she could do better. She wasn't a pretty woman to begin with and the surgury made her head look out of proportion with the rest of her, like a bobblehead. I'll feel better if I do it the right way. I have enough support from family and friends now that really motivates me to stick with it. ^_^
