He wins arguments by making posts too painful for anyone to bother responding to. TKO by TL;DR

If you quote a long post full of factual errors, that's the only way.

Umm no. You can try arguing the idea given by the post, or hell even where they get them. But going line by line is a good way

IDK I just tend to quote it, post a funny gif hinting it's stupid and that works just fine for me.
Occasionally though, some things could do with pointing out and dissecting.

I wanted to answer one of his lines but I didn't want to go through all that deleting, etc. I guess I'll just answer it here then.

He said something along the lines of if you don't eat healthy you don't care about your body or how it looks. That's wrong. Very wrong. I eat whatever I want and always pretty much have. I gained about ten lbs when I quit smoking but I've lost it again. I stay around 120 - 130 without any dieting and I'm about 5-10. That's a pretty decent body there. I eat junk food, I'll sit down and eat two burgers with fries if I want it, or even half a cake if I'm in the mood. I don't gain. I don't worry about whether or not the food I cook and eat is healthy, it tastes good and that's the point. I care very much about how my body looks but I don't have to starve myself or eat crappy tasting food to keep it looking good. The only thing I have to do is make sure I walk somewhere a few times a week so my legs and butt stay tight and not get flabby. If I didn't do that, that wouldn't mean I didn't care about my body either, it would just mean that a certain amount of flabbiness is ok with me.

Also, he doesn't seem to understand that some people have more trouble than others losing weight. My younger daughter is 16 and weighs over 200 lbs. I do cook healthier foods for her and I don't fry as much stuff as I used to, and I limit the amount of snacks we keep in the house but that still doesn't get the weight off her. There have been times where we ONLY had healthy low calorie food around here for months. There have been times where she has cut her calories down to a low level and exercised every day for months, but there is very little change in her weight or how her body looks. She, at 16, doesn't have the patience yet to keep depriving herself and keep pushing herself for months without any reward at all. Imagine if you were 16 and wanted something more than anything in the world and you tried and tried, for months to achieve it. You cut out the one indulgence in your life and pushed yourself to do things you hated for hours. Things that made you tired and sore, but no matter what you did, you couldn't see any results whatsoever. At 16 it's difficult to do that and it's also difficult for her to look at the long view in this rather than a shorter view. Her problem isn't like me trying to lose ten lbs. Without some sort of results, no matter how small, it's VERY hard for someone her age to keep at a program that is so very unenjoyable.

She cares very much about how she looks. She takes care of her clothes and buys things that flatter her. She spends a lot of time on her hair and nails and makeup. She's a very pretty girl, but she cannot get the weight off. When she gets older she may very well have to have something like lap band or gastric bypass. Her thyroid is within normal limits, and yes that was checked early on, as we have thyroid problems in my family. There isn't anything else that can be done to get the weight off her right now, other than give her speed and that's out of the question because her BP is a little higher than normal, but not to the point of needing meds. That runs in the family too. So, for the moment there are no meds or medical intervention that can help her, keeping her nose to the grindstone every day for a couple of months didn't do anything at all for her except cause depression.

Before you say that people who eat too much or don't eat correctly don't care about their bodies, you really need to think about the fact that others may be in different situations.

Well, to be fair he's not the only one here who responds that way. I'm just too tired to deal with so many quotes most of the time.

I guess if you like that kind of maintenance, you can always give it a shot!

See Geeko? mikassyna is talking leagues there and she's being realistic.

I'm quite confused. What is your definition of league exactley? It seems like she's discussing personal preferences, not rankings.

um, me too, i am sure I quoted the wrong post, too lazy to go and check.

Anyway, Leagues are... well leagues, ever been in high school? I guess so.

Each league is formed of people who are good enough for each other.

How many CEOs do you see marry the cashiers? How many hollywood actors marry regular people? When members here advise guys not to go for "super hot" girls if they're not as hot, they're talking leagues, my barbie and ken meme was about leagues...

Leagues exist everywhere, you can close your ears and eyes and scream "there's no leagues" all you want but it will still exist.

And for fun https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PoKA-a5vEEc

Pretty much what I'm saying with those posts is that leagues exist, and are based around a few key points, all subjective to an individuals wants
Looks: easy to explain
Assets: money or any other thing that can be seen as a plus. For example to a high school girl a guy in college with his own car and apartment would be a huge plus, as he has more assets than a regular highschool guy. Things like intellect and other abilities fall here.
Social architecture: this is where things like power, being funny, many friends and connections, good personality, etc fall into. Its what brings the connection between people.

Mix those together with your own personal wants in a partner and you reach a personal rating system. Given that as a species we have very similar wants then you start getting the more fundamentally accepted leagues. But still personal taste will act as a fine tuning, hence why most argue about who the hottest celebrities are. They all agree they're all hot but personal wants push some ahead.

I'm just going to state upfront: while I realise many people operate out of this idea of "leagues" - personally it hasn't helped me one bit.

Too often when others try to match me up with someone else, it becomes horribly obvious that despite supposedly being in the same "league" from everyone else point of view, we clash horribly and really are opposites more or less.

I found a lot more opportunities after stepping out of that mindset.
