Allah, the one true creator. The God of choice for Muslims around the world, with their patriarchal religion.

A true test for a feminist.

There’s no test about it. I abhor the God of the Old Testament just as much.

I’m glad none of them are real. I just like to blaspheme now and then just in case (superstition). You know how it is. We all have our little foibles.

My issues with Allah and other deities extend much further than feminist values. There’s the existence of suffering and all that jazz.

I was thinking that criticising Allah might be interpreted by some as being Islamophobic, which is at odds with the typically plural worldview of feminists.

If I were a feminist I'd probably be weary of being seen as an naughty atheist in the eyes of Muslims.

But what do I know? :)

Feminists do not all think the same.

I don’t think that anything, including religion, should be above scrutiny. I dislike the belief system, not the people. I also dislike Bible-based religions. Liberal branches of any these religions aren’t too bad, though.

Having left a cult, I’m aware of the undue influence religion often has over people. Most people are born into a religion or convert when they are vulnerable. Fully informed choice is often absent.

True enough.

I think that is a sensible approach.

I can imagine American Christianity to be pushy and cultish, in a lot of places over there.

Some is, some isn’t.

Most of my problems have to do with the Bible itself. Having read it multiple times, I’d want no part of a religion that was even loosely based on it.

I try to base my beliefs on evidence. My beliefs will change if I’m given sufficient proof to support believing in a deity or belief system. Of course, believing in a god doesn’t mean I’d want to worship it.

You do seem to be in a good position to judge Christianity, based on your experiences.

I am glad you have found your groove.

Thanks.

I’m OK if I drive but I get overstimulated as a passenger. Thank goodness we like the same music. 9 hours of car conversation would kill me.

The only time I got it as a driver was last summer when I did a long road trip but my AC was broken, so I had to keep the windows and sunroof open. I got sick from the smell of exhaust, pollution, and construction, and all the ambient traffic noise which made me dizzy. I prefer driving in my sealed and temperature-controlled time capsule.

:)

Right now I can barely move. Have a few things to prepare for Georgia but the room is spinning.

I used to vomit from being carsick at least once a week when I was a kid. It got somewhat better when I was allowed to ride up front, but still…

It’s a lousy feeling. I hate being nauseous.
