No it was "chicken".

It was only "yellow" in 1885 because that was how they talked in those days.

You know you're not a pussy--so there's no use reacting.

I wish it wasn't---but it's part of being a male--being able to take a little ribbing.
And I thought I was being clever by not being tricked into dumping her. My reaction was to show that I wasn't reacting except that was a reaction.

OK, I've been watching Back to the Future too many times.

girl ask me to spend 1600 on a purse would be a relationship ending. unless I'd won the lottery, no even then it just not practical. though I wouldn't spend it on a pc either. why not build one cheaper.
It's a laptop. I need a good laptop because my one is really old and underpowered yet I depend on it because I'm increasingly not at home (I have to type many of my posts on laptop or phone, which is why I just got a Blackberry phone for faster typing, texting and Googling).

I can't build a laptop but I can upgrade one. I saw they had this $3,000 laptop but I had a plan to upgrade the $2,000 cheaper version to be even better than the $2,000 version. And I can either for 33% off with employee discount so after I buy about $200 worth of components I could have a $3,000 laptop for only $1,550 :D
sly279 wrote:
I'd recommend strongly you don't buy her things.
I don't mind buying her smaller things. So she went back to saying she doesn't want anything (sort of like she has a guilt complex) and I had to stop her from paying for her own meal at Pepper Rice today. She said she doesn't want a Gucci handbag because she already has one (why am I not surprised?)

We went to the Hello Kitty Cafe, which she had been obsessing over for weeks and then I was disappointed when she wouldn't let me buy her anything there, not even a cup of tea. She had a cute attack when she saw the dolls but she wouldn't let me buy her one. $30 is a little over priced but it's better than $1,600.
DW_a_mom wrote:
If you really want to stay with her, you need to have an honest discussion about what kind of boyfriend you are willing to be, and that will include specifically telling her that you are already aware of enough key differences to realize the two of you will never live together or get married (e.g., wanting v. not wanting kids - that is a long term deal breaker. Always).
I think she already suspects this isn't a long term relationship. I think she's more perceptive than she wants to admit. Last night she was talking about what I'd do when I break up with her. Well I'm not ready for that yet. If she wants to break up with me that's her prerogative.
DW_a_mom wrote:
Also tell her that you are not the kind of guy who thinks $1600 purses are worth the money and would never buy one (personally, I'd be upset if my husband bought me one - I can think of soooo many things I'd rather spend $1600 on!).
I know there are more practical uses for that money but I must admit, I've spent larger sums of money on things equally frivolous... the difference is that they were for me, not someone else. I'd find it hard to spend that much money on someone besides myself, which is why I never want to have kids.
DW_a_mom wrote:
Don't become one just because you think that is what she wants; she has played it way too coy and you could be out of both the money and the girl, so forget it, don't engage and don't try. Make it clear that despite her romantic notions of how you should just "know" what she wants, you do not and never will, and don't want to play the game of trying to read into her statements and signals, as that detracts from the quality of the time you spend together.
I'm not going to get her one. And yes she was doing that "you should know what I want" thing again... and also saying everything is fine when it wasn't, and saying she didn't want stuff when she did.
DW_a_mom wrote:
If she wants something, she will have to ask, and you will get to say yes or no.
I would like to add to that, if she says she doesn't want something, I will take her refusal literrally. I'm not going to play into her romantic notions where I have to offer her something three times and she refuses the first two times (I think she got that from some shōjo anime).

Basically, you are the kind of guy who needs the up-front type of relationship my husband and I have. Women who want the same actually do exist
Wait, women like that exist? :o

The reason why I feel "comfortable" around this girl is because the communication with the other girls I dated was even more cryptic and garbled. I found her to be relatively open. But, there are women who are truly up-front within a relationship? Maybe GiantHockeyFan is right when he says this is teaching me bad habits.

I said that too, many many pages back. I think others did too.

Yes, there are women who are truly upfront, or at least, as upfront as men who are upfront. The women you have dated, the way you are describing them, sound ridiculously painful.

Okay, you did, but it's hard to keep track of all that was said, this thread has a lot of pages.

Yes, painful is a good way to describe the women I've dated. I must find out why painful women are attracted to me.

I'm not trying to take credit or anything, just pointing out that you acknowledge a lot of advice and stuff but I don't think much if anything has changed in your mindset in the last 17 pages even though you kind of make it sound like you are considering things. I wish you all the best in your romantic life and I'm out.

I'm always considering things :D Decisiveness is not one of my strong points.

First off, why the hell are you still talking about this relationship that doesn't sound healthy or like it will last on this forum?

Anyway, what I would say is:

1. Anyone who is in a healthy relationship won't be posting details about their arguments or communication issues on the Love and Dating forum on any website. These people would communicate with eachother instead and not give play by play commentary of what they discuss and do with eachother on the internet. You likely already violated her trust in you for doing this weeks ago in the previous thread you had written about her.
2. If you want to figure out why painful women are attracted to you, then it would be wise to write down your entire relationship experience and figure out common patterns of behaviour (yours toward them, and all of them towards you), and take responsibility for your behaviour. Also consider how you react to the bad behaviour you had been given as well. You should notice something that a lot of these people would have in common, and specific things too (ie. my experience showed I attracted too many girls who were not over ex-boyfriends and were even fresh out of relationships with them)

idk about there but here, one can get a decent laptop for around 400-600. a good one for 600-1000, 1600 is like super great powerful laptop or going survive ww3 type. can't you find a cheaper one o.O. only thing I'd spend that much on would be a car(mine cost less than 1600.) or a gun(last forever and ever, unlike electronics that last a year before becoming outdated)

even still I probably overpaid for my laptop. got it half off. but its more then i need as I got it just to game on but i don't pc game so now its my wp laptop.

what? talking about everything leads to them finding you unconfident and clingy. so some stuff is best talked about to others first and dealt without the SO knowing. don't see how its violating trust. most likely they'd be talking to their friends about it. but lot of us aspies don't have rl friends to talk to about this stuff, so we come here.

Excellent point Sly.

Yes but I want a high end one, not a sub-thousand dollar cheapy. Actually I want one designed for businesses use. I've got a HP Elitebook on loan from my employer and I think I'll get something similar.

The laptop must meet three requirements. It must be relatively powerful, it must have a SIM card slot (a feature typically not available on consumer models) and it must be small enough to fit in my inside jacket pocket (a 12 inch model would suit).

Australian Dollar = 0.77 US Dollar
Canadian Dollar = 0.79 US Dollar

I see people from all 3 countries discussing prices as though the currencies were the same.

Good point MaxE. 400 - 600 dollars would a be a really cheap laptop here. 400 - 600 AUD would be worth 320 - 480. Also our stuff costs more by an even greater amount than our the difference in currency, due to tax, shipping costs, etc.

My 15.6" Toshiba with an i7 processor and 12GB RAM cost me $760US less than a year ago including shipping. Apparently it is still possible to avoid tax by ordering through Amazon (at least in my state) because there seems to have been no tax on the invoice.

Or you could pay $1490 for a 13.3" MacBook Pro with less memory.

Most of the Toshiba's don't have a SIM card slot. Basically I'm looking to buy a laptop designed for corporate use.

15 inch is way to big for me to carry around in my jacket. I need 12 inch. A laptop is a relatively heavy item. Wouldn't Amazon charge a lot for shipping to the other side of the world? Also bear in mind that within Australia I'm entitled to a $650 discount.

I was just making a general comparison. Of course you would use amazon.com.au (or some other Australian retailer).
