During 1992, the Year of the Woman, I heard feminists saying things like "The phrase 'I was just trying to be a nice guy' is not an excuse, it's an admission of guilt." As I said before, much of the attraction is cultural and related to the possibility of good compatibility with men. Often, an eastern woman's compliment is a western woman's abuse. Both expression and perception are factors.

A woman who is referred to as "hot" is being spoken of as being very attractive. So, take it as a compliment.

Yes but the problem is that she is being told this AFTER saying she's half Korean. Implying she might not be considered hot if she weren't half Korean. As if it is her race that determines her hottitude. Yuck.

Exactly! A guy can ask me my age and what I do, then say what's my race then once I say Korean. They go nuts and say oh you must be hot, are you this or that?

Honestly, I think that is BS. Because if you were into the guy you wouldn't mind him saying you are hot. Just my opinion.

Just don't tell a Starcraft nerd that you're Korean..
The girls in Korea treat the pro gamers like celebrities, apparently.

Im sorry to hear that stereotype, when it comes to situations like that but hopefully some day a decent level headed man will want to get to know you as a person and admire you as a person than focus on ethnicity as being hot.

Back in the late 1960's, I heard Betty Friedan, who was at that time the president of the National Organization for Women, say "A woman is a person who is coincidentally of female gender." While that is a nice concept for workplace neutrality, most guys aren't attracted to a generic humanoid who coincidentally has female appendages. Seriously speaking, that comes close to the purported objectification of women by men that is often cited as a sexist degradation. Again, we see distinct differences between women who are culturally eastern, versus those who are western. It's not race, as much as the generally associated culture. And, it is a matter of differences in self concept.

It's not BS. I get the same thing when gay men learn I am half Japanese. Even if I had a bit of an interest in a guy, it wanes after he says something like, "You're half Japanese? That's so HOT!" or worse yet, "Hey you'll teach me Japanese, right? I love anime!". It doesn't feel good. I don't know why people don't understand that. Especially when, in the not-too-distant past, Asians were seen as complete geeks (in a non-cool way) and people made snide, racist comments. I don't hear a lot of those racist slurs nowdays, but I sure do remember them! Being told you're attractive because of your race is similar. It's still about RACE. And a lot of it is driven by TRENDS. It was not easy being half Japanese back in the 80s. Anyone remember how Americans demonized and boybotted Japanese products in the 80s? Many Americans downright hated not only Japanese people, but all East Asian people. They treated me like trash. Now everyone loves Japanese people because of anime and video games. And they are convinced they like Japanese culture because of anime, which horribly misrepresents it.

Sorry, I had to get that out of my system.

Anime and video games represent as much about Japanese culture as Marvel Comics, DC comics, and Star Wars represent American Culture. Little to none they are just products nothing more nothing less.

Its like saying I like hamburgers.. which means I must like American culture and have complete understanding of it! Or ...I like sushi so therefore I automatically know everything about Japanese culture and assume all Japanese people like sushi or ramen.

Too bad more people don't think like you do.

Oh, btw if anyone here is bi-sexual or gay, there are many Asian men who really have a thing for white guys, just like this. Just putting that out there, just in case.

Theres always a double standard there are also Asian women who are like this with white guys too. I wish if an asian woman liked me however she wouldnt focus so much on my race or expect me to live up to my steriotypes eg wearing a cowboyhat or driving a mustang while eating a burger.

So what you are saying is that you never get attracted to men, because that would be the external part of them.
