Not to make your thread into a soap box, but I sort of opted to not participate in holiday events myself. Its great really, that sort of thing is really infinitely more trouble then it's worth. In my opinion anyhow.

My opinion on Valentine's day is the same as Charlie Brown's opinion on Christmas.

Quote:
I know nobody likes me, why do we have to have a holiday to emphasize it?

Oh, well. More candies and chocolates for me. 8)

I hate Valentine's Day, but I don't really care to much. I will be lonely this year in "that" regard, but it is what it is.

I have no significant other this Valentine's Day, but I will be working anyway so it won't matter. I sometimes buy into the holiday; I won't lie. But it really isn't that big of a deal. I agree that it was probably a better holiday when it was still Pagan, and people got to do the nasty with strangers all day.

I will be as miserable as ever as I've never had a friend that's a girl, a friend, not a girlfriend, a friend. I feel like I am slipping into a bad way as I just keep eating and eating. I know I have a problem but when you constantly grab another Bagel and then leftovers from dinner without even thinking about it what do you do? I think I've gained 20 lbs. since Thanksgiving and I am now out of shape.

I'm just sick of feeling like I am inferior to girls and I have no idea how to talk to them...How do lonely guys cope with not having someone in their life come Valentine's Day...I just hurt so much right now, especially when I see all the love on Valentine's Day going on and I can't experience it.

You sound like a virgin. Hire an escort and your outlook will change.

I absolutely hate Valentine's Day since it sells what is a stupid idealized vision of what a relationship is that is in total contrast to the miserable reality that most relationships are.

The only thing I've ever liked about V Day was making those valentine card boxes in school, I don't think the kids do that now. I used to come up with some weird stuff. :D

Me too. :( Valentines day was fun in elementary school when everyone got everyone something, and you got the awesome decorated card box filled with candy.

They still do that. At least, my brother still does, and I still see the Valentine card boxes in stores so somebody must be buying them. I miss those days too. It was so sweet to get a bunch of Valentines from your classmates. I mean...it was mandatory and all, but it was still sweet. I never thought I'd ever get those again, since I'm at uni now and way past elementary days, but this year one of my friends gave out those types of Valentines. It was super cute.

So that's an idea for those of you bemoaning Valentines day due to loneliness. You can still celebrate it with your friends and give out those little Valentines like you did in Elementary school. I wasn't there when he gave them out, my roommate set mine on my dresser and I found it later, so I don't know how anyone else reacted to them, but I thought it was cute.

No s**t I'm a virgin...what was the give away???

I just wouldn't be able to do that...I want to earn it...not pay for it, because then I won't have the confidence to know I can do it for myself.

No sh** I'm a virgin...what was the give away???

I just wouldn't be able to do that...I want to earn it...not pay for it, because then I won't have the confidence to know I can do it for myself.

The whiny tone was the dead give away. :D

I used to be a lot like you before I hired a pro and got rid of that nasty albatross around my neck.

Afterwards, I wondered what they hell I got so upset about too many times in the first place.

Once you lose your virginity, you will look at sex and relationships a lot differently (probably in a much more flippant and irreverent way than you do now).

Your mindset needs to go from "Why does nobody love me?" to "I just don't give a f**k anymore."

Think Voltaire's When You're Evil.

Focus on what you are good at and go from there. The tail will take care of itself one way or another.

Right now you've got this flowery BS idea of what a relationship is. The reality of a relationship is a lot less fun and much more hard work.

If you want to earn it, then just go into a bar, hit on a chubby girl, give her a back rub, take her back to your place and voila! you have "earned it".

When it comes to sex, you pay out for it one way or another. Be it the $250/hr for a decent pro or the countless hours spent going out to meet NT women, grooming yourself, buying good clothes, etc.

Please don't hire an escort. That's not a very decent way to get it. And when you do meet the right girl, she will NOT be very impressed with your little story...

Now why would he tell the right girl how he lost his v-card?

Sharing everything about yourself to the one you love is nice in theory but in practice not so much...

Maybe in your experience RICK though I could see why...

You don't seem to view women as people but rather objects to buy in exchange for sex.

No matter how much we kid ourselves, we pay out for companionship one way or another.

I've seen too many men destroyed in divorce proceedings to buy into that "love conquers all" BS.

That's why marriage is stupid. I'm not sure I'd ever get married, it's just pointless and costs loads of money. You can be with someone and love them without a contract, afterall.

That's where the joy of common law kicks in. If you live with the girl, then you are practically married to her.
