I can definitely sympathize with many people who have posted in this thread. I used to think the same things, that I was going to be alone forever, that I'd never have sex, etc.
By the time I was 23 I had only ever been on one date, had never kissed a girl, never had sex, and never had a girlfriend. I was introduced to a girl who was 6 years younger than I was, by some friends I had at the time. I didn't find her attractive, at all, but she seemed to really like me.
I was very depressed at the time. So, I thought, "this could be my only shot, I need to just lower my standards, and try to like her." After she had asked me out several times, and I'd always turned her down, I finally said yes. We started dating and had sex, and she seemed nice, but I still wasn't attracted to her.
Eventually I got past who she was pretending to be and saw the real her, she was a chain smoking whore who would spread her legs for any guy that asked. Needless to say I broke up with her upon having this revelation, and was mad at myself for ever having gone out with her in the first place.
Then I went back to thinking I would be alone forever etc., but when I was 26 I met my fiancee online. She is everything that I've ever wanted, and makes me so happy. Often times I still wish I hadn't gone out with the other girl so that my fiancee could've been my first, but what's done is done.
Now I'm not saying "this will happen to you too," or anything as cliched as that. I'm just saying there is always a chance you will find happiness with someone, there's always hope, even when it feels like there isn't. So, don't lower your standards just to lose your virginity to someone who you will regret being with later.
