Oh look, another pointless thread that attempts to paint facebook as devil-spawn just because it's part of mainstream society.

Facebook lets you put all your private info online in order to inflate your ego while allowing the site to sell details about your web browsing habits, along with everything you put into your profile and everything you "Like", to advertising companies. That's all it is. I honestly don't get the big deal.

Of course they spam you. The spammers probably pay Facebook to let them do it.

I think that, one day, when Facebook gets hacked and some of their databases end up leaked on torrent sites, and it will happen eventually, people will realise how stupid they were to put all their personal information into that thing.

Facebook is where you show off your awesome social skills and charisma.

I have none. That's why I don't use it.

Plus, I've been stalked a couple of times.

Facebook's at its peak. It will eventually collapse like MySpace has.

It will only collapse if/when something comes along to replace it.

I do that a lot.

I was just having a high conversation with my friend, talking about how NTs do things like that more when they're high on weed, but I already do it a lot to begin with in addition to that. I often type a LOT really fast, then delete it all, think of a more appropriate response, type it, reword it, and send. Then I'm like....s**t, hopefully he thinks something's wrong with facebook, it said "Exhumed is typing..." for at least 10 seconds before I responded with a one-sentence reply.

I tried Farmville but then I couldn't keep on a schedule and my crops died and then I had so much livestock that I thought it was irresponsible because my farm clearly wasn't big enough to comfortably accommodate them. I tried Fishville and all my fish kept dying and my tank looked stupid. I tried to play Yoville but everybody had much nicer stuff and I was just as socially awkward there as I am in real life. I tried one game where it was about Treasure, not sure if it was Treasure Isle or something else, and I'd play for five minutes then run out of whatever energy or manna I had to have and would have to wait a day or post to my wall for help... and I didn't want anybody knowing that I even played, much less giving me stuff for it.

I think the only facebook game I enjoyed was called My Vineyard. That should probably tell you how boring I really am.

Right now, I think the only I app I have given permission for is Marketplace. I'm not interested in giving a bunch of permissions just to play games. It leads to everybody having my email and phone number and friends' information. That's not cool. I don't like that. Sometimes they want the upfront permission to post on your wall and that's not cool at all.

If I want to play dinky internet games, I go to neopets.com and poptropica.com. My kids visit a site called addictinggames.com. They also like moshimonsters.com.

I just go there to comment on someones status update sometimes, or if someone messaged me. Thats about it.

A 40-year-old friend of mine (not with Asperger's syndrome or autism, btw) told me how they noticed it was simply a haven for Cialis spammers, advance fee fraud and penis enlargement spam, and the worst place to meet people.
I had an account, but permanently deleted it after getting endless spam requests and spam friend requests.

In short, Facebook isn't as grand as people think.

it's not meant to be a dating site at all, just a place to keep in touch with friends & reconnect with friends past

I rarely get spam. Random people don't start adding me. I have only played two games there. I gave up with Farmville because my crops were dying and I kept forgetting to harvest them. I still get farmville requests and have thought about posting on my wall "stop sending me Farmville stuff" but I am not sure if I will ever return to the game so I don't post it.

I don't think I've ever been spammed on FB. I've gotten viruses from doing stupid things, but that's about it.

I blocked all the games I got sick of. People can't send you requests for games you have blocked, and they're easy to unblock should you change your mind.

You guys do know that you can easily block the game apps and everything from specific people?
My cousin always sent Farmville requests everyday. I couldn't see what was happening on the Home page with my other friends, so I blocked all future Apps from her, easy really (:
