You know it! Seriously though, I like to get a bunch of cheeses and make a fancy paté, and have wine and be all classy and stuff. No PB and J for this lady, no sirree!

While I'm a pretty low-maintenance gal myself, I have to agree here. Good cheeses, nice wine, probably a variety of fresh fruit and a tiny bit of dark chocolate to round it all out.

I used to like it too, like maybe 10 years ago, but then my dog got bitten by a snake and I got scared of poking around in the grass.

You might well want to be careful with this one if it's too isolated. Would set off alarm bells in many women!

Wait, seriously? Man, I never thought about it that way.

That's very true, but you can find places to hike that aren't so isolated. Many cities have urban trail systems that wind their way through populated or residential areas.

This is a great thread. I've copied and pasted a number of posts from it. Good job everyone!

Could I tempt you with mud cake?

I did this with a girl earlier this year - we were "attacked" by bees!

I have never been a big fan of chips (although I love any kind of fish)... but, one of my favorite memories of dating with my husband is when we spent a long weekend in Ireland and grabbed some chips and ate them while sitting on the rocks and grass.

It was amazing... sunny and 80* the whole time we were there.

There are websites where you can search for local eateries/attractions/events, some of them by price.

The beau and I are both poor college students, so I'm continuously-trying to think of fun things to do (not just places to go, but in general).

My suggestion: volunteer for a cause you both believe in- spend time together, and the organization benefits as well.

Best cheap date I ever had was on my 20th birthday. The guy I was dating had gotten laid off and totaled his car the week before, plus we were both students, so I knew he didn't have money to spend and told him I just wanted a nice night in and to spend time together.

I walked into his apartment and he'd managed to turn it into a 'tropical paradise,' lol. He'd gotten a ton of cardboard and paint from a friend to make 'palm trees,' borrowed a tarp and a few bags of sand from a neighbor to make a 'beach' in the living room, went to the Dollar store down the street to get lais and little tiki candles, borrowed a CD of luau music, baked a coconut-pineapple birthday cake and answered the door wearing a Hawaiian shirt, swim trunks and flip-flops. (Bear in mind, it was the middle of March in Pennsylvania and there was about a foot and a half of snow on the ground).

It was just a birthday cake and a night in, but it was a really fun night in. I think he only spent about $10 on it, but I will always remember that. All you need is a little creativity and to care about someone and you can come up with something fun.
