I never even heard of this guy or his book, and I read a ton.

Self help books with christian subext, sort of narnia for adults. Somehow he has written a few best sellers(at least around here).

Tried reading the alchemist but when I was at the middle I had to give up due the heavy amount of christian subtext. Dont have anything against christian values(have a tendency to listen to alt rock christian bands) but if I wanted to read a christian book I'd pick one, dont try to sell a religious book as a self help one.

Not sure if it would work out between me and a coelho fan or not.

It also had few Islamic subtext....

I read The Alchemist some time ago. It wasn't too bad, but it is definitely not high philosophy. More like a bag of fortune cookies connected by a loose fantasy narrative.

I quite liked The Alchemist. It's not as profound as it's fans seem to think though. I guess people were starved of decent reading material, and would not look outside the bestseller lists.

Well, for me it is very hard to have a "best in the world" anything. I did like "The Alchemist", "Brida", and "Eleven minutes" (I read a lot more, but I do not even remember those), but I would not consider any of those books "the best book in the world". I consider "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, "Tom" Sawyer" by Mark Twain, "One Hundred Years of Solitude" by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and "The happy prince and other tales" by Oscar Wilde my favorite books, but I have personal reasons for that.

I once read "Brida", found it very boring and disappointing and decided to never read something from him again.

That is a very apt description of a book I have read, called "The Celestine Prophecy". To this day I have no idea if it was meant to be taken seriously or just a bizarre novel.

It looks more like an older cat with a younger cat.

Yes it does look like an older cat with a young cat. But I have a male and a female cat and they have very different facial expressions, body language and gestures. My male has a stoic look and strides around proudly. My female is always looking over her shoulder at me, preening, and has little dainty feet and walks delicately.

Its hard to say what is happening in the photo, or what the relationship of the cats is. In most likelihood they live in the same house together and are friends and like to snuggle. Very unlike my two who are constantly fighting, hissing and scratching each other.
