Nope. I think lots of women, especially aspies, are turned off by men's aftershave/cologne/anti perspirant.

Is the smell of stale 23st sweat a turn on to many women? No? Thought not. ;)

largely, i conclude that it is not the scent that makes the man but the man that makes the scent.

no scent will make an ugly person good looking or an unpleasurable person pleasurable.

but a man with many good qualities will let women develop the association to the point where she loves the cologne.

No amount of affection could make me like the smell of of Old Spice, Axe, or any of those peppery, over-the-top dudesprays.

Agreed.

For a long time my favorite scent on a man was Mennen's Speed Stick (one of the flavors, I can't remember which, but it was green in color). It would send me into heat. I'm attracted by smell more than anything else, after initial visuals.

Yes, smell is a huge deal for me too. A soapy bloke is a sexy bloke.

I really hate a lot of cologne and perfumes.

At best most smell fake and artificial and are alcohol based. [Maybe it's being a wine nerd. After awhile you can pick about aromas pretty quickly]

At worst they give me migraines.

However I have been very tempted to throw money at the Ihateperfume guy...

I use that already. Still start perspiring after an hour or two though.

So, back to my original question really: Is the smell of stale 23st sweat a turn on to many women? No? Thought not.

Pit stink happens because of apocrine sweat glands and bacteria. They secrete a different sort of sweat than eccrine sweat glands, and bacteria feed on it and produce the stink. Bacteria can create a capsule which resists washing off. However, shaving and exfoliating my pits worked quite well for me. I used a loofah pad first, which helped some but did not entirely eliminate the stink, then when I had toughened up the skin, I did a very careful scraping with a pumice stone. Now, no more pit stink.

Aqua Di Gio - Similar to Armani Sport Code, I find it a little too soapy.

That's actually been the one I go with if I wear anything at all these days. Another one that I was into for a spell was Mambo, the problem with that and anything that's too woodsy or intentionally manly smelling though - even if it smells good, is that I notice the type of guys who bury themselves in stuff like that - they're geeks and tryhards. It seems like most 'real men' I know go a bit citrusy and yeah - Aqua, Chrome, Coolwater, and RL Polo Sport all seem like a win with a ladies. Pretty much go to the cologne counter and see what makes you smell like you took a bath in Squirt or 50/50.

Ah, almost forgot another in my favorites stack - Ken Cole Black. To they still make it? I've got a very big dusty bottle of it.

Cool Water - One of the least expensive and most commonly used colognes. It has an aquatic, refreshing smell. It is a little perfumy, but not too feminine. It's a play-it-safe cologne; there are not many people who dislike it. It is not weak and not overpowering, perfect strength.

Cool water is nice but everybody is wearing it! According to basenotes.com, its notes are:

Top Notes
Lavender, Coriander, Peppermint, Rosemary, Orange Blossom.

Middle Notes
Jasmine, Oakmoss, Geranium, Sandalwood.

Base Notes
Amber, Musk, Sandalwood, Cedar

Personally im wearing Joop Jump! a lot lately though some think it is a bit synthetic

The ones I keep going back to, bottle after bottle:

Carolina Hererra 212 Men
Issey Miyake
Rochas Man
Burbery for Men (the 1995 remake of the 1981 original)

Other favourites are:

A*Men (in moderation as I find it can get very overpowering)
JPG Le Male (again can get overpowering)
Eternity

Ones im using up

Nautica - Lattitude Longitude
Rykiel Homme
Lacoste style in play

And ones I avoid

Burberry Touch - Gives me headaches and makes me aggressive!
Boss in Motion - Smells really synthetic
The original Joop - sickeningly sweet

I've bought some more Issey Miyake L'Eau D'Issey. Don't know if I mentioned that one.
