Hm. Mine tends to be X.Y.U. [Ex, why you] by Smashing Pumpkins. Lyrics like:

Still I was lonely, and she was by my side, my one and only
Knows that she could never hide
I couldn't feel her, and it was just a game, cause I was lonely and she was crazy

[then]

I hurt where I can't feel, I feel where I can't hurt
I know where I can't know, I bleed for me and mine

/

Since it's a long song and has some profanity and gets a bit kooky I figured I'd just post my favourite chunks rather than the whole shebang.

"Late goodbye" holds some significance for me though, as i played it on repeat-1 for about a week on my ipod after I broke up...

Poets of the fall have very deep and meaningful lyrics, I'd say they are a hidden gem and one of the most underrated bands out there.

Oh yes, Poets of the Fall. Thanks for reminding me of them.

Anybody else cares more (or at least equally) about the lyrics than the music? I mean, I care about the music and rhythm, but if lyrics suck, it ruins the song for me.

Lyrics are by far the most important part of a song (at least those that have them). A catchy beat helps, but it's secondary to what's being said. Honestly i'd say that POTF are one of the most aspie-friendly bands out there because of their raw emotion.

So true. While I like good music (I'm crazy about the sound of bass guitar; too bad I'm bad at actually playing the instrument), I do think lyrics are vital for the song (unless it's instrumental, of course).

And there's something about Poets of the Fall that just makes me feel good, even if the song is sad.

Sorry to hear you are feeling sad but I wanted to thank you for introducing me to the descendents(I lack of knowledge on early punk but I enjoy listening to a couple of songs every now and then and this sounds good).
