I've been guilty of this a few times, but it usually was a way to find an old high-school friend. When I did get in contact with them, they were happy to reinitiate contact. Quite frankly, if I didn't know anything about this, I wouldn't have reconnected with my estranged father.

I've had women approach me far more aggressively than your searching. They've mad several unwelcome advances on me.

I do have to admit, I did a little internet detective work myself on someone I am strongly attracted to. She's on a dating app for Zoosk, and she unwisely set up her Twitter account so it posts her full name and a matching pic of her just when you google her username. I am fortunately a safe guy, just have a lot of time on my hands. She also said what college she attended and is attending, and put up way too much info on her site. I'm a tad worried because there are dangerous people out there who would be willing to do a search paying for it (which I will not) and find out where she lives and stuff.

Hell, I just wanted to get to know her more. We have a lot of common interests, but I have not heard anything back from her. I haven't said anything to her about this, I just emailed her through the dating site. :-P
