Would you dump someone who got fat?
alcohol consumption costs far more than obesity, yet people don't get all up in drinkers' business. i don't understand that.
being obese does not automatically mean health problems either. you can be obese and healthy.

it's possible to be fat and yet be extremely fit.
Seen pictures of you and, while you're on the curvier part of the weight spectrum, you're also definitely smaller than what most people picture when they think of a "fat person."
i am actually obese. not even just overweight.
Are you using the medical definition, or the average person's looks-based definition of obese?
'cause I was thinking of the looks-based version.
medical definition
Fair enough. Even still, the pics I was thinking of had more than just your face. Though I don't remember them showing your hips or butt.
Still, based on those pics and your description above of how you carry the weight, I (and most guys, I think) would describe you as a girl with a big ass (which ain't necessarily a bad thing) rather than fat.
me clowning with a $1000 hat in Saks Fifth Avenue. it shows my butt, but i do think i am noticeably obese from that angle.
in this one you can see my arm muscle kinda.

I don't drink apart from on rare social occasions and I think the price of alcohol should be exaggerated greatly to stop the problems associated with alcohol consumption.
Of course, in certain cases, metabolism and genetic factors can contribute to how someone may look, however some people will use that as an excuse when it is really through the lack of discipline, exercise, bad eating habits and correct diet which can be corrected.
However I don't think it's right to promote that fat is healthy when there is an alternative. Firstly, structured exercise routines and organic eating need to be implemented into the education system, I don't think promoting the image of a fat person is going to help in that area.

i don't think fat OR thin should be promoted as healthy. i think healthy should be promoted as healthy.

This whole thing is a weird issue. My hairstylist told me about one of her friend's boyfriends trying to point out ways to "tighten up her butt" when his girlfriend already "eats clean and does cleanses". It worries me that people are getting so weirdly uptight about every little bit of jiggle. And seriously, how do you "eat clean" and what's to cleanse that your body doesn't already take care of? To me that sounds like code words for Disordered Eating.
I think if you love someone, you're generally blind to or willing to overlook a multitude of "flaws". If you don't really care for the person and are a bit of a d*ck, then maybe you dump them because they're not perfect. Think of this as a mercy. They get to go out into the world and find someone better. Rather than being emotionally shackled to a shallow person who doesn't really care for them.
Yeah, after those pictures, I stand behind what I said even more.

i don't think fat OR thin should be promoted as healthy. i think healthy should be promoted as healthy.
The UK and US are definitely have the highest obesity rate and I think the definition of health is based towards the individual. What is healthy? I don't think everyone has to train to a high standard and have a low body fat, for some people a few low intensity running or swimming sessions a week may be enough because nutrition is the key. The NHS are now even recommending yoga and using it to treat patients.

obesity isn't really the problem. the problem is people being unhealthy due to poor eating and sedentary habits.
i think if we want to improve health then alcohol should be targeted (it would also put a dent in obesity rates). it is not only a health concern but also a social concern - the rates of violence and other crimes could be massively reduced by curbing alcohol use.
i am surprised you drink at all, considering that you said you stay away from sugar.

I think the key element is with food in itself, you can easily lower the fat content in your food and still eat the same context of food.
For example.
A fish fillet I eat has 0.6 grams of fat in, fish in batter and a fish and chip shop has a much higher content of fat yet the fish I eat is still 22 grams per fillet.
A chicken portion is 1.6 grams yet if you buy it in batter from Kentucky fried chicken has a much higher content of fat, the chicken portion still provides 25 grams of protein.
The other day, I made chocolate protein bars that are only 1.4 grams of fat yet still serve 15 grams of protein.
People need to realize that convenience isn't the best way to eat, even healthy foods in supermarkets are unhealthy because they have a high salt content and a high level of fat. I also believe vegetable growing and organic eating is a good key, however not everyone has an allotment so I understand it may be more difficult plus many green groceries have shut down due to the economic recession.
As I said, maybe once or twice at a wedding, maybe I'll have a beer a few times a year to celebrate something, I really only drink water on a regular basis. I don't consume sugar, caffeine and I hardly consume any fat in my diet.
if you drink alcohol at all, then you are consuming sugar.
i know how to eat healthy, so i was not seeking any information about diet (sometimes i choose to eat well and sometimes not). i lost 90 lb, so i am fully aware of how to eat nutritiously and in smaller portion sizes.
did you assume i would not know about healthy eating because i am fat? we already covered the fact i get a lot of exercise, and now you know that i am fully aware of a healthy diet too.

You've convinced me that a healthy lifestyle just isn't worth it.
Nah, I already knew that.

As I have said, I don't consume sugar on any regular basis or caffeine since it doesn't have a positive effect on me. I consumed alcohol about 2 or 3 times last year and it was a small amount.
I'm not assuming that you don't know about healthy or unhealthy diets, what I am claiming is that those are wrong eating habits and some people aren't aware the amount of fat content they are consuming. Some of those habits are picked up through lack of discipline and some of them are picked up through childhood.
Also define exercise, are we talking about doing 90 minutes a day of various high intensity training routines such as uphill sprinting, martial arts drill, bodyweight drills, explosive lifting, core training and yoga or going for a low intensity swim or run a few times a week? Because I would be hard pressed to believe you are doing 90 minutes a day of high intensity training.

you would be hard pressed to believe that.... why?
well, my favourite exercise used to be climbing stairs. i did 60 flights a day in a mixture of running and walking for several months. now i have knee arthritis so i stick to dancing. are you seriously unaware of how hardcore dancing is?
