1. How about something physical like your hair or height?

I'm just of average height (5/9 and a half) and my hair is really a negative thing... I decided to just be quirky and stupid and made it say "That I have a face and am wearing clothes."

Lol guys, have you noticed that the "Be yourself" would be a sh***y bad advice here? (and it's often the case here) :P

I like to think of it as still being yourself, just putting less about yourself on profile

Although I'm going to keep my current profile pic I think though. It's really "me" and the people I'd want to contact me would be the people that are on the "quirkier nerdier side"

That's ok, you can't fake this side and that's why there's no need for the word 'nerd' and 'eccentric" - avoid those, the media displayed them in a very negative light in the last decades.

Hey Xenu, the ad looks good. I'm curious, though. I actually didn't mind the acknowledgment of your eccentricity. Being eccentric is being unique - and that's a good thing. You're not just some mindless clone. The question is, "What is it about how you look or behave that would make me say you're eccentric?"

well following some of the advice in this thread and a few others, I reactivated my profile and edited it some what..

I got a hit in just a few minutes.. problem is.. it was from a guy.. even though I have it listed clearly in my profile I'm straight and I don't even have "New Friends" or "Long distance pen pals" listed..

Don't bother describing yourself, that's up to someone else to work out. It's like dicks who'll go out of their way to tell you how kerazzy they are.

I've noticed it's very sh***y advice lol because I'm being told to not be myself in order to get peoples (positive) attention lol.

OK, I'll add my 2cents. The profile is obviously very improved, and I think you could let it stand as is, but I wanted to comment on the "be yourself" bit.

It's not that you should present yourself as different than you are (trust me, I am able to do that, and then it backfires horribly later.) It's that the language you use to describe yourself needs to show some salesmanship. So, instead of "quirky" or "eccentric" (words which wouldn't bother me, BTW - but I'm over twice your age, so not sure I have the same cultural reaction to those words as your target market) you could say "original thinker" or "unconventional."

I think your profile pic doesn't show you in your best light: at first viewing (and you need to make an impression at first viewing) it looks like you're scared and have a stuffed toy: the humorous intent of the picture doesn't come through unless you look at it for a second. I'd put that with the pictures with the comb, maybe last so it follows other pictures of you playing around and then will make more sense. Can you manage a mischievous smile looking straight at the camera? I know that may not be a natural pose, especially if you're using your laptop - but put your webcam at eye level, and look directly at the camera lens if you can. (You have to be careful that it comes across as playful and not lascivious, otherwise try a more straightforward ordinary picture of just your face and maybe shoulders, looking into the lens at eye level.)

I also noticed that your "personality" is listed as "more aggressive." That would raise a red flag for me if I was looking (some of these personality surveys are just skewed towards NTs.)

Well I changed my profile pic with all the people saying that the original one wasn't obvious enough to be humorous at first. I have it as my second picture though.

I wonder how Adolf Hitler's profile would have looked. I'm sure he'd have described himself as an original thinker and unconventional.
