Cry me a river, nice guy.

Why don't you flamebait some more? There's no need to post unnecessarily childish comments. Either come up with something worth briniging to this thread or don't bother posting at all.

I'm afraid you are the one being immature. How could you not see the post above the one I just posted? You just decided to react and play to your impulses instead of rational thought. Not something a self controlling adult would do, is it?

Besides, what's with all the swearing at the mods? How is that any more mature than what I just did?

I'm hardly being immature. There was absolutely no reason for you to tell me to cry a river. You could have just left your initial post and that would have been fine, but posting this comment just for the sake of offending me is immature.

I'm reprimanding the mods because this is not the first time they have messed up. More than a few months ago there was one user who would spout nothing but hatred for men, and although she broke rules, they sided with her and decided not to ban her. So this is hardly anything new. I just thought I'd at least get a PM before they'd take my post and make a separate thread with it when I had no intentions of doing so.

Just take a deep breath, man... don't let others goad you into making things worse for yourself. The vast majority of people here are good folks who don't purposely stir up trouble for their own amusement. Remember that and try not to let rage blind your objectivity.

Take a break, blast some aliens or zombies, then come back with a cooler head. ;) That or a nap usually works for me!

You DO know that this isn't only a man thing, right? Plenty of women are online talking about how there are no "good guys out there" and say how they don't need a man and all this, and are willing to throw good men under the bus, just like a lot of men do to women.

Sexism at its finest right here.

Yep, I can even post links to threads in other forums where women say such things, and especially in forums made specifically for men.

Yes - and most women can't seem to trust them. They HAVE to be up to something! It's a trap! It's manipulation! Let's be mean to him and if he shows the slightest amount of anger we can prove our theory correct that he was NOT a nice guy after all... after all, a truly nice guy would never get angry no matter what a woman does to him!

And if he succeeds by not getting mad from our sh**-test, he's still not worth taking because he's obviously a wimp who won't stand up for himself.

You see the catch-22 madness we have to deal with all too often? ;)

This too. Completely spot-on.

"oh, he's being nice to me! Never mind that he held the door open for that nice older gentleman, since he's being nice to me, he must want me to give it up! Well I'll go up to him and call him some names and prove that he's not nice after all!"

^This has literally happened to me before. :x

Not all women are like this

Personally I think if a man is nice and fanciable most women will go with it

It's whether the man (or woman) is sexually attractive that is the clincher

If he isn't that attractive to the woman but just nice she may well be friendly towards him but she won't usually want a relationship

There are of course people for whom sexual attractiveness isn't required for them to have a relationship or it's far less important

This 'too nice' thing is a red herring in my opinion - if a person is fanciable they can't be 'too nice'

It is generally a fact that the more fanciable a person is the less incentive they have to be 'nice' as they will be able to find partners anyway.

So if a woman just isn't responding to a phenomenal amount of niceness from a man - she just doesn't fancy him
Same goes for men not being responsive to niceness from a woman they don't fancy.

Relationships aren't predominantly forged on the basis of niceness - it's sexual attraction that is usually the prime motivator, and only then is personality considered and if the person is fancied/valued enough the other person will put up with all manner of bad behaviour in the attempt to hold on to their 'prize'

lol no, they are not. But if they had just made their intentions clearer and been less creepy about it it wouldn't have left so much time for someone else to make a move.

Yeah exactly, by then they should have had an definitive answer themselves, if they just stopped lying about what kind of relationship they wanted.
And women are not objects or property to be stolen, and "groundwork" does not equal s**t. Seriously, that's the kind of "intimacy as payment" s**t that needs to stop.

All human interactions are transactions

I used the word 'stolen' euphemistically

I was responding to BanjoGirl's assertion that only men are guilty of this type of behavior, when it's very, very far from the truth. I also agree with your thought that it mostly only matters if someone is sexually attractive to the person or not. If the person is abhorrent normally, but sexually attractive, chances are that person will at least get laid, while the other person who is there for you genuinely gets left in the dust.

This is why it's not a good idea to be in the 'nice friend' position

You need to get the other person to say if anything's likely to happen between you and if not you move on

You can still be friends but it's better to have your main focus on searching for someone who does fancy you

Of course there are women that engage in awful behavior. They are not the problem here. That does not change that there is an entire culture online that encourages men that do this. Have you ever seen a network of women whining about not getting the cock they are entitled to? And getting patted on their collective backs for ranting about "having to be pretend-nice to men, and not even hitting them or anything, and still not getting laid!! Those dicks!!111!" ad nauseum. Also, so genuinely nice people can't be sexually attractive? What?

When talking about matters like these there are lots of people that actually have that attitude - sorry that I confused you for one.
