Would you rather date a aspie or NT?

if I could find an Aspie with ESFJ or enneagram personality type 8, then I'm all for it.

I'm not really sure, but with how well I get along with my close Aspie friend, I'm leaning more towards AS as a potential partner in the future. But for right now, no one, intentionally - as I have more than enough things to sort out in my life before I'd be comfortable expending time and energy on a "relationship," of any kind. I have some excellent friends, and am not celibate despite not having a relationship, sooo things are OK for the time being. But once I get a few life/career/financial things better sorted out to my liking and I feel like I can slow down working on those and have time and energy to dedicate to a relationship, it might work out for the better if it was AS-AS. Only time will tell.

Neurological conditions are not on my list of things to look for in a partner.

They never were for me, either.. until I realized I had them, and so do the friends I get along best with. That's why it's evolving into possibly becoming a criteria for dating. Otherwise I wouldn't have been indifferent about it in the past, I'd just avoid people known to have obvious "defects," I wanted no part of or being around. While that still rings true for anyone who's nucking futs or violent or w/e, the more I learn about myself and other Aspies in my life, the more I think I might just get along with one better. The biggest example I have is certainly one of my closest friends, an Aspie with mutual special interests.

I could go either way. I'm not that bad in the Aspergers scale, and I can communicate decently.

As long as I am very observant and mindful, I don't think I would have any trouble with a NT woman.

Whoever thinks I'm coolest. I dunno, I've not met too many people with AS. At least not too many people similar to me.

I either want a girlfriend who's like a female clone of me, or someone totally the opposite of me in all the good ways.

I did get on fairly well with a girl who likely has NVLD/AS like myself, never got to dating her, but I at least could talk to her, which is better than I can normally do with girls.

Ultimately I'd rather be with some one who is marginally Neurotypical, since if they are like me or worse, we would not get along in the world as a couple very well. We might love each other and get along as a couple really well between us.. but I feel if I'm going to be in a relationship I really need some one who has the skills I lack so that we as a unit can more successfully navigate the world.

I can really appreciate this thought.

I used to say ASD, but now I am not so sure. I think it's highly delusional to think that one person, can be ideal, based solely on a condition. There is a vast multitude of personality traits, both in Aspies and NT's. Fundamentally, and perhaps more relevant, is to find someone who is understanding, acceptant, loving, and whose persona aligns well with yours.

This, a million times. (An no, it's not just because she's one of my favorite members!) *nudge* ;)

I've known a few apsies in person - it's no guarantee of a successful relationship. Heck, many of us can't get along here on WP! ;)

I think that's highly unlikely. You come across as a congenial human being.
