Women are not attracted to me because I'm not 'masculine'?

They all had the same answer, and it sorta shocked me but confirmed what I feared: They all said the reason why it is difficult for me to attract women is because I do not look masculine enough. I asked them to clarify and they said "well, you dress extremely well, carry yourself well, and do come across as very confident and intelligent. However, you look very young for your age and have a babyface - but not a babyface with masculine features that girls like., but a boyish, weak face". They then told me there was not much I could do (I can't grow a beard, moustache or even goatee and I already dress maturely). They also said I was short as well for a white man - 5ft9.

Being clean-shaven looks very good if you're tan with short dark hair. I'm tan with black hair/brown eyes, and facial hair only looks good on me until around the 4th/5th day after shaving.

You could try using a tanning bed to help get rid of the "patsy whiteboy" look. By the way 5ft9 isn't short either more like average height.

Maybe I'm special, but personally, I've always been far more attracted to slightly feminine guys rather than typical "masculine" guys. For instance, I strongly dislike any facial hair and too bulky build in a guy and tend to prefer "beautiful", more androgyne men.

Then again, I am openly bi, so maybe that has an effect, too :P

Anyhow, each for their own: I wouldn't be too worried about what other people say about your appearance. I do know as a fact that a lot of girls prefer less masculine look.

Masculinity isn't about not being able to grow a beard or being short or tall. Sure, women tend to be attracted to the physical signs of masculinity, just as men are attracted to the physical signs of femininity. What women are attracted to more is confidence, ability, decency, and a level head. Carry yourself like a man, and that'll do more for you than any beard. Shoulders back, chin up, all that.

And there's also a huge community of women who are obsessed with "pretty boys". I blame Yaoi. So if you can make that work for you, do so.

I'm attracted to androgyny and love skinny pretty boys, they're my favorite eye candy. Especially if they have nice eyes, longer hair, sleek dress style, little broody looking. Eyeliner is nice too.

Confess: Was a teenage goth, I guess it stuck. Pleading fifth on the yaoi.

There's almost a hyperfocus on your physical "flaws". I wonder if those are the same goggles you look through when searching for dating material?

By the way, I like men that are slightly feminine looking. In fact, a lot of women do.

I like men that are tall, slim and not too muscular. I also love it when a guys has half long hair. Full lips are superhot (feminine) and I also like sweet, generous big eyes.

Your friends sound really insensitive, as well as shallow when it comes to their choice in men. I can honestly say that there are plenty of women out there who like men no matter whether they fit into a certain type or not, including me! Sometimes I'm their 'type', sometimes not, but personality has to come first for me.

He asked his friends to be honest and they were. I wish I had friends like that. Usually they just disappear and I never find out why.

yes, at least they were honest. i'd rather be around honest but bad people, than nice but backstabbing people.

I don't think "nice" and "backstabbing" go too well together

Genuine niceness at least :P

IOW they are really bastards but hide it under a superficially "nice" facade. at least the bad but honest people don't hide it from you.

While I appreciate their honest opinion I think it's incorrect imo. Or rather, not true for all women.
