He really should have got her, in this film. Giving hope to the underdog. Alas :( They seemed to be sending a message to Aspies with this film, 'know your place'.

But he met another girl in the observatory and he got a great job :)

Yeah but the ending left everything up in the air. We don't know if he ended up with anyone or not! :?

In a way it was his first relationship and those rarely work out
The relationship on most of the film was a bit forced.

Yes, they were attracted to each other but there is more to a relationship than that and they had some problems when it came to other important things like dining out for example(they had some sort of routine and he was sad they were probably not going to eat the same thing again... Im not even going to try to go into the party scene because that one was a bit more complex imo).

It looks like she wasnt able to deal with all of his issues but she has some issues of her own as well...

Open endings are common in films.
I watched 500 days of summer with my family a year ago and he just meets someone new named auttum.
They barely talk...
My mum needed some time to understand the whole thing(they dubbed the movie into Spanish but left original names, Summer and Auttum dont really mean much to her)

I didn't like this open ending...same way I felt about The birds! He just should have gotten her! Lol like in Mozart and the whale...but geez that was catastrophic..lol

No, but I HAVE seen Punch-Drunk Love. That movie kind of depressed me, because the main character reminds me of me (minus the crying in public).

Yes, another very depressing movie, for dating challenged people; equally so as Adam; but at least Punch Drunk has a happier ending

A happier but totally impossible ending. That's why it was so depressing to me.

btw, we finally finished watching the movie. my bf (for now) spoke to the scene where adam threw things around the room. we wondered, if he hadn't done that, and even if he did say he needed her to help him get around...would she have gone with him?

Probably not...what she wanted to hear was that he wanted her to go, not that he needed her. She wanted him to her to go it was because he wanted her to be with him. To share his life because, he loved her. Not because he needed her as a "guide". At that moment I was inside her head and that's what I think she was feeling because I put myself in her shoes and that's what I would have wanted.
