It would be a toss-up between being called "awesome" "beautiful" and "perfect" multiple times, and "you give me heaps of positives with no negatives".

"Thank you for, well, being you."
and
"You're beautiful. I love you."

Every time my boyfriend calls me beautiful I cry like a baby. It's very bittersweet, considering it's my insecurities, but it brings me so much happiness to hear it.
I know he isn't the kind of person to BS or flatter someone, so every time he says these sort of things, it means so much to me.

Pretty simple, one time a girl I wanted to ask out told me "you are very handsome and very smart." I try to think about this every time I think I'm losing hope in my love life.

Perhaps I should take a pick between "gorgeous eyes", "hot muscular legs", "appealing face", "hot body", "nice ass", "great smile" but I'm also wondering which ones of those are truly meant and which aren't.

That's all i can wonder, how many are true, and what's been held back.

I've noticed that when you fish for compliments for example, you'll always get exaggerated half-assed "lies", like they are partly true and partly false, like there is a little part in them that thinks you are what they say, sort of.

But when they give them out the blue, they have more chance to be true, unless they have ulterior motives behind them I think.

You're self-depreciating.

I bet it was at least 10 minutes that you were angelic. (:P)

"All this is so much fun! I'm glad I met you." (Last year on a cruise, from a woman I had a fling with, while we were taking a break from dancing.)

"Go try out dancing with him. He's really good." (This year on a cruise in a nightclub, one woman talking to her friend after I danced with her.)

After reading all these compliments here that people here received in their lives, I'm not sure whether I should laugh like a maniac or cry like a newborn baby or just smash my head straight in my laptop till I become laptop, because the fakeness of pretty much all these compliments here is really astounding.

But hey, that could just be me though.

Actually the nicest thing I've ever been told was from an Aspie and said,
'You would be one of the few people I would save if I destroyed this world'
As an NT this is hard to interpret... :D

I would just like to point out that you don't really have a definitive means available to you of objectively determining that any of these compliments were insincere.

Have you ever heard of the expression 'if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all'? If not, now you have. You are very welcome to apply this in your own life.

The titel of this thread is 'Best thing anyone has ever told you about you?', not 'I wanna be an a$$ and make other people feel bad about themselves!'. Now, you are perfectly welcome to create your own thread under that tiel and spew mean things, but you are not welcome to do so here. If you do have compliment or kind words to share, you may do so here.
