I enjoyed discussing things but no,I don't want to hang out later for a movie and chit chat.Makes me tired.
I really enjoyed the meditation and learning the Tibetan ceremonies was cool, because I like that sort of thing, but people wanting closeness confuses me.
One thing I could do is wear a sign that says "observing silence,"than no one talk to you.

I don't like being the center of attention either, unless I'm on stage. Even then, it's not me that's the center, it's whatever character I may be playing or what-have-you. I'm simply more comfortable observing the people around me or being lost in my own thing is all.

I loved acting, but I love music more. Plus, I was disinterested in the acting industry. It's not exactly female friendly.

^^^I was a band geek, played the flute. The one thing in the universe that was like falling off a log.
But it was also sucky,I was the accident prone child so I went arm first through a French door.
Now as I age the damage is more apparent,it hurts to try and play. The one thing that I know I could have excelled at,oh well, that's life.Im going to try other instruments,I have a violin that I should be playing. To me reading music was easier than written language. But I envy the people I have met that play by ear,not by note.

I was raised on the piano. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, I was thrown into situations where I had no access to one for several years at a time. I was decent, and could have been very good if it hadn't been for those periods of non-access.

But, I've got a keyboard now and intend to re-learn. I know I'll never be as good as I would have been, but it's a start. It makes me happy, and for me that's all that matters.

Good for you.A family member said "learn to play an instrument, you will never be lonely."
I would love to be able to play the piano.

Hmmm... and think of this: We want people to like us. But why? If suddenly, people start liking you... does that mean you're better than you were the day before? No.
[...]

Because it hurts when they don't.

Does it? I never understood why it should. Not everyone is going to like you, that's a simple fact. Now, if someone you personally like doesn't like you back, I can see it stinging a bit.

Oh, come on. =P Think about it, you'll figure out why it hurts.
Don't be Mr. Spock here, logic wont reduce the pain of rejection no matter how much we try to use it to put on a brave front.
The reasons why it hurts are nearly limitless, especially if one wants to get specific like - my piano teacher doesn't like me and so wont teach me to play and I really want to learn piano to increase my sex appeal so I can find a good significant other and live happily ever after.

Plus about a billion other pages...

It's a simple fact that facts don't make things less painful. =)
