Does it? I never understood why it should. Not everyone is going to like you, that's a simple fact. Now, if someone you personally like doesn't like you back, I can see it stinging a bit.

Don't be Mr. Spock here, logic wont reduce the pain of rejection no matter how much we try to use it to put on a brave front.
The reasons why it hurts are nearly limitless, especially if one wants to get specific like - my piano teacher doesn't like me and so wont teach me to play and I really want to learn piano to increase my sex appeal so I can find a good significant other and live happily ever after.
