So my girlfriend just sent me a text explaining to me how she's so happy that I respect her culture by not trying to rush things physically in the relationship. She was nervous about dating a Westerner like me because she was afraid she'd have to get intimate before she was ready. She says that I'm "gentle for her" and this is makes her "happy to stay with her".

That I'm a "goodboy" instead of a "playboy" despite the fact that I'm "handsome" apparently makes me stand out. Her and her Laotian friends were joking about how I'm going to make a "great husband". They did so in a suitably humorous fashion (it would have raised a red flag otherwise) but the clear implication is "So far you seem like a keeper".

This is just the kind of thing I need to scrub all that cynicism outta my system.

Is this the same girl that you talking about in that other thread?

Yeah ... remember that time when you were in that place with those people and you said some things that someone else may have responded to?

Remember?

Responding variously to people: I've been with her 3 months.

She's had two sexual partners before so I don't see any reason to believe I'd have a stale sex life, just one that doesn't escalate as quickly.

Yes, it's the same girl as the other thread.

Sounds like Canada, they come over here on temporary contract visas, almost every fast food restaurant is exclusively staffed by them where I live.

Was she married to them? How soon did she put out for them?

You could always marry her and see what happens. Though, personally, it sounds as though she is sexually aversive rather than simply against PDA. I don't like people making excessive PDA, but I'd be pissed off if they weren't intimate with me in private.

Even if you don't have full PIV sex Shau, there's still lots of things that you and her could do. I'd be a bit worried why she doesn't want to do those. I'd also see what was the norm in Lao culture, too.

Shau seems happy. Future-Mrs. Shau seems happy. It's been three months. Plenty of time yet.

Don't worry about sex or lack thereof Shau. Enjoy being with your girl and it will happen when it happens. Worst thing you could do is try to force the issue (Kezzie learnt that the hard way :( )

More of these dumb stats. There was one about the average couple having sex 125 times a day, sorry, year.

Once again - who's asked, when, what questions, are they being honest, how many people etc. And what's 'average'

It all depends. I don't think many people reading this are 'average', so why apply an average stat.

I'm starting to realise that a lot of trouble on the L&D section is caused by some people religiously applying statistics without questioning them.

I'm glad I never lived my life by statistics!

They were survey studies, despite a lot might lie there's no better way to get info.

Also, why is it so unbelievable? Married people are more likely to be compatible (since why they got married) and more likely to have easier access to sex (since they're more likely to live together) than unmarried people, even those in relationships.

She was not married to them. I didn't ask the exact question, but it was implied to be around a year or so.

She wasn't sexually aversive with her last BF, though. Either way, I'd suss the question out long before I ever considered marrying her, though.

Airkiss! *mwah, mwah*

I've actually learnt to do that properly too. It's good when you find a community like the football community I'm a part of, they don't care that I'm out there and they look after you as long as you're prepared to pull your weight.

Beware, aspie Airkisses are deadly.

They cut the flesh like razors.
