And pointless if you're not looking for a partner or even a friend. I thought that the purpose of online dating sites is to find someone to date. If you're just browsing profiles for "fun", then that sounds like a waste of time to me. There are other things that I do for fun which are more fulfilling to me, like playing computer games, watching movies or reading novels.

I could come up with all kinds of reasons for why the single status lives on. I can't say its a great use of my time either, I met someone who sent really strong signals for a week, then said it was ok for her to date other people too.
