Sure there are activities we do together. We belong to an atheist/skeptic group and go to regular outings where we play trivia, Cards Against Humanity, etc., we see movies together, we travel together - I even planned our last trip so that it could include his telescope time in a very dark spot of the country AND I did go with him to that.

Bit off topic but have you played exploding kittens?

No but I've heard of that one but our group has not played that game yet - that needs to be the next game someone buys and brings to a group.

And I need to expand on another thought and I know it's off topic. Boo asked if there were "hobbies" we both participate in together.

And THAT answer is no, because I don't really have any hobbies, in that sense that he (the Aspie) does. I don't collect rocks, I don't make jewelry, I don't have expensive telescope equipment, etc.

My hobbies are more like daily distractions - I read a lot, like I go through a book a week. I play puzzle games online. When the weather is nice I like getting outside and running or just going to the park to get some fresh air. But they're not the all-encompassing HOBBY like he's got because there is nothing out there that holds my interest THAT much that I can spend hours and hours focusing acutely on that one thing.

I think it's that our minds work in a different way. My focus is on multi tasking always and forever. I do several things at one time. He can't do that but he can zero in on one thing for hours, where if I tried to do that I would be bored stupid.

Maybe you have to be even more blunt and just say "could you get me these trainers for my birthday" or "could you buy me this book for my birthday"

Out of curiousity is he gifting you what he makes because of money issues?

No, it's not money because he can drop quite a bit on things if he wants - and to be fair to him, he did buy me something quite expensive last year for my birthday (nothing I had asked for either - he bought us both an airplane ride over the country in a restored biplane. THAT was super, super cool).

No, I think the simple answer is that he likes to look at the beads and jewelry, he has made it, so he wants me to wear it and appreciate it as much as he does. I think I will just have to deal with that and wear something on a regular basis to show my appreciation. It's a small price to pay I guess.
