^^ That's very common. I think alot of us just want to reach shred city as fast as possible when we start lifting.

Actually, I'd say having aspergers is an advantage when it comes to fitness. People with aspergers usually have OCD in some form and rather than trying to get rid of it, you can focus it on strength and fitness. This is an advantage.

Closet Geniuous: Did you have any mental issues with lifting?

I'm surprised after reading on Bodybuilding.com forums it's actually also common even for N.T. lifters who have nice bodies today spent their first year or two doing dumb training programs and diets.

It's the dreaded 'Brosplit' routines that plague the internet. I fell into that trap.

There's so much misinformation on fitness out there and I pity those who fall into the traps Fitness magazines push with all these 'get shredded on 15 minutes a day' flimsy programs.

I agree.

It's not the Aspergers though, it's the depression and anxiety.

I use to always constantly be running circles in my head:

Am I eating too much? Am I eating too little? Am I eating enough? Am I eating healthy enough? Am I training hard enough? Am I training TOO hard? Am I getting enough sleep? Am I just doing everything wrong? Am I wasting my time? Am I getting weaker? Am I getting too fat now? Should I keep bulking? Should I cut?

All in the same day.

But I'm in a better place mentally now.

My routine was actually not too bad, my biggest mistakes were made in the kitchen.
I was just way too anal about my diet, trying to optimize every little thing, and too eager to cut, when it would have been much better to just bulk up for a bit. But you know, getting your abs to show is the holy grail of fitness. But I could have easily gotten my abs to show with a much more relaxed approach(like I do now).

There's just so much dogma and psuedoscience when it comes to nutrition it's absolutely crazy.... "fat is bad", "no! carbs are bad", "no, only sugar is bad!" "no, glucose is okay, but fructose is bad!", "no! fructose is good, but only from fruit!" ect. ect.
It's all BS.

Calories in, calories out.
End of discussion.

Not saying there aren't nuances, some foods have a higher thermic effect(fiber and protein), but at the end of the day, your calorie game better be on point before you start worrying about small details like that.

And the sugar hypothesis is nothing but that, a hypothesis. The theory sounds convincing, but there is just no evidence behind it. Actually, the evidence we do have, disprove it. The studies done, comparing a high sugar group to a zero - low sugar group, show that they lost the same exact amount of weight, and similar improvements in overall health.

^I can't reach but I'll keep trying :D

I used my Aspieisms to loose weight 3st 7lb, by changing my bad habits one by one into good habits and then repeating that. You do have to be a bit careful though, the obsessive behaviour takes you a long way, but it can take you too far.

Exercise is good for all Aspies and everyone else. I do weights and jog. But a fit male bod and a very pumped one aren't the same thing. The guy in the vid looked too pumped to me but then we don't all like the same things.

There seems to be some correlation between those things.
