I'd prefer the life of a royal and not a married in royal either. Just think about it. All this but not for sex with a shallow person. You could have sex with whoever you wanted and because of who your grandma or mum was, you would have all the money and not have to do a day's work.

And tabloids publishing photos of you in the bathroom and commenting every piece of clothing you wear and every faux pas you make. And the whole nation informed if you once smoked some pot or crossed a street on red light. Or even went shopping to Tesco.
No, thanks, I wouldn't like to be a royal.

Even if I was rich, nobody would ever think I'm rich based on what I wear.

I'd still buy my button-down shirts from Costco LOL

I wouldn't want a doorman in my building, if I lived in an apartment building. You would have to be constantly kissing butt. Doormen are repositories of gossip---and they have nothing better to do than be nosy.

I don't even like having waiters in restaurants. I like it better when I can order food from the counter, and just take it to the table. I understand, though, that many people make a living through being a waiter or in food service in general.

I find, if a person "seems" rich----that they are not usually rich. People who are secure in their money don't flaunt it.

I once made an observation that often the poorer one's family background is, the bigger portion of their income they spend on appearence. With extreme cases of social services beneficients spending everything on expensive clothes and cosmetics. I don't understand it but that's how it looks here.

I like small restaurants where the person who waits is also a shareholder or even the owner. They have that nice, friendly air of equality. I don't like to be looked on either up or down.

And why are you guys assuming that they are treated and abused badly by their evil rich husbands? I don't witness that at all, what I see that they're laughing and enjoying their luxury life and relaxing .... I don't think it's easy to hide abuse on the faces. Yeah, I know such cases may exist, but come on, NOT EVERY woman married to wealthy man is abused, you are looking at the exceptions.

Most abuse cases come from the poor classes btw.

And you don't even need to have a such lifestyle either (shopping, outing..), imagine the total freedom and options that you will have to do with your life, fulfilling things, like for example you can write a book! You can found a some humanitarian organization and help people! You can take courses and learn plenty of stuff! You can even work in some job just to fill time but without the stress and fear of losing it!

It's a superb easy life!

@Boo,
I have all of that right now, independently, without a man / woman or partner paying my bills. I had a successful career, made sound investments, and now I am able to stay home full-time "writing a book", helping humanitarian organisations, and learning "plenty of stuff". I don't need to be a kept woman in order to do any of that. I can make my own decisions and I don't need to play Stepford Wives in order to earn the right.
.

But how old are you now? How long did it take to reach that?

If I recall right, you are a surgeon (or something similar?) who made like $300K a year, the rest of us mere mortals aren't that lucky.

Sorry, I didn't see this earlier.
No I wasn't a surgeon! :P I think you suggested it once before, but I certainly didn't!
I had a healthy salary but I worked very hard for it for many years. In fact, I worked I so hard that I had a nervous breakdown, an autistic breakdown and a stroke. I didn't know I was autistic and I pushed myself too hard. It's nice to relax now, but I'm still glad I can support myself rather than expecting someone else to pay my bills.

How boring.

I'll stick to working on being a clinical psychologist and adopting kids.

Image is important to me as well as money so I’d date a guy who is well off, educated and looks nice as long as he treats me well and both of us work for everything. I can’t medically have children. I’d hate to be a stay at home mom and not be able to have a job.

So like this:

I'll tell you as someone who comes from a high middle class family, I am trying to live a life like that. Right now I am about to play golf.

I would absolutely love not worrying about covering rent and other bills, but I need a sense of purpose and accomplishment. I loathe being around people who don't feel that way and somehow only work on their sense of entitlement. I would love the ability to hire a housekeeper or the option to go on a vacation, but I would grow depressed very quickly in the social circles depicted in the first post. (Autocorrect changed the word to "suicidal circles"...may be more accurate)

No, that snapshot is not for me, but if its what someone is accustomed to and that's how they live their life, then good for them.

I don't know that a yes or no is appropriate for the question, if the question is about money over personal connection. But I will start with a no, I guess. Saying money doesn't matter is a bit stupid. It does. Money = freedom in a lot of ways. I'm not even talking an outrageous amount of it, either. Just what's needed to live comfortably while still being able to indulge your passions. And I wouldn't expect a partner to be solely responsible for earning it, lol.

But that lifestyle? No. I don't find that lifestyle at all desirable. And my partner is important to me. I want someone I can jive with. I would like to share most of the same hobbies/interests. And an understanding as far as to where I stand mentally. These things are more important than money. But the money enhances being able to chase said hobbies, and passions. Like travel. Hiking. Supplies. ETC.

A bit of a roundabout way of answering I guess.
