That's demonstrably false. People form emotional and sentimental attachments to inanimate objects throughout their entire lives. You never had an intense attachment to a stuffed animal when you were a child?

Those are not romantic in nature, so not the same thing.

I don't think realistic robots with AI are that far away, and they are now growing all sorts of things in labs out of stem cells.

I think that some of the future AI's may even be implanted in artificial human flesh and bone.
Which would be even more interesting.

I think such robots will be programmed as NTs, and so you would need to date them, give them compliments and buy them presents. It's possible some early failures built by an ND could be more useful, but once they become mainstream they will all by like NTs.

That's just horrible. I want a partner that is independent.

if it were sufficiently charming, i'd likely soon forget about its provenance. after all, we ourselves were created by another superior intelligence, so it'd be hypocrisy to hold it against another sentient being just because it was a 2nd generation product of this superior intelligence.

That's the relatively most realistic way of immortality. Humanity should at least create one such being so he/she as a future keeper of the world's history :P.

In Futureama some thought dating robots was wrong cuz they believed all humans would start dating robots & the human species would eventually be wiped out

Seems like competing against AI would be an act of futility and a great way to embrace being a relic of the past or just setting ourselves up for self destruction. Why not take a step in evolution and transcend our current limitations? Of course, if this sort of thing became reality, there's a good chance the rich and powerful will make it exclusive and consolidate their wealth and power even further.

I'd love to find out! I would probably get more love, affection & reciprocation than from my boyfriend!

Absolutely disgusting. I wouldn't do that any more than I'd do it with the electric dish-washer.

Hasn't science better things to do?

that IS the "better thing" science is doing for us, not all of us have the social genes so this is a godsend.
