I'm wondering where the overflow goes. So, fewer men are having sex. That stands to reason they aren't sleeping with women (therefore women's rates should also skyrocket?), or they aren't sleeping with other men (or else, their rates wouldn't be skyrocketing). So it seems like all people are having less sex, except maybe women with other women.

Is there a skyrocketing number of women with other women, or is everyone just less sexual?

My guess would be that a broader pool of women are having sex with a narrower pool of men. If we imagine that 10% of the women are virgins and 27% of the men are virgins, that probably means that 90% of women are having sex with 73% of men, and some of the men are "double-dipping" at the expense of the 27% who remain virgins. Sexual intercourse doesn't inherently imply exclusivity, so it seems plausible that members of one gender are disproportionately missing out.

It's quite likely that many of those 27% wouldn't likely be involved whether or not some of the men who were "double-dipping" were able to, so it's not at their expense.

Instead some of the women most similar to the men who struggle are still able to occasionally have success even though they may still struggle quite a bit. This might lead to attention from men who are more interested in 'racking up a high score' whereas there's fewer women who approach sex with that mindset.

Similarly I'm willing to bet that MSM are less likely to be proportionally represented within that 27% because that same high score mentality isn't limited to straight men.

Basically it's men being more comfortable with settling when hooking up.

Can XFG just go rogue & lock this s**t already?

It's making my skin crawl by now. I don't even really see how this train of thought fully relates to L&D anymore.

The future sucks.

I truly don't want to get controversial, but when I see that certain men are having multiple female partners, I have to wonder how many of those female partners are consensual. I'm not trying to criticise any men but let's be honest, many women and girls lose it to repeat offenders, with or without consent.

My daughter is in her 20s and she says that most of her friends (male and female) aren't interested in dating or having relationships or sex, but are more focussed on their own interests and being polyamorous or single.

I wonder how many of the 27% voluntarily turned down chances but now insists their situation is involuntary.
It isn't involuntary if you've just always had higher priorities.

You know how I made sure things had happened before I was out of high school? Because I prioritized real life interactions over computer games... and I was an awkward social outcast. :nerdy:

I wonder if the two charts would look similar if asked about whether having or not steady relationships since 18.

I fail to see how anybody doesn't see stereotyping people via sexist memes as a problem.

It's disappointing. Feed a conversation that builds people up for once.

Did I ever mention that my religion amounts to basic standards of human respect that pretty much everyone seems to have demonized in the modern era, in there place we now have social networking shorthand, sicko memes running the course of aimless dehumanization, "alt" politics etc.

Take it from a guy who just spent a decade behind closed doors among well over $20000 in computers, I know a thing or two about people that you started ignoring meanwhile sometime. You're abetting a dialogue that harms everyone. It's the same way a racist epithet is unhealthy for whomever says it as well as the recipient. What hurts men hurts women, what hurts women hurts real men.

I'll just say I did a quick Google on this guy Vaush and he doesn't seem like someone I'd listen to on any topic.

I'm listening to him too. I agree with his analysis of how society has become far less social, and the opportunities for people meeting in meaningful contexts have decreased substantially. I feel for men and I believe the stats / trend in general. I think there are a lot of factors that need to be considered, but it's true overall that society and the media as a whole has shifted its priorities, and changed the socialisation patterns of young people, as well as the way people perceive relationships.

I doubt there'd be many who turned down chances. I think it's more likely that some have lead more insular existences, staying home most of the time, and haven't had any opportunities as a result. I get the impression that most have tried, been beaten down by perpetual failure, and have basically given up because their self-esteem has been shattered by that failure, and there's nothing left to try that seems like it has any real chance of working.

Solution: Destroy the internet! (or at least destroy most parts of it).

That insular existence involves an element of choice. There's little choices one makes along the way that make that outcome more or less likely evidenced by how there's almost always guys worse off in every way who still manage to pull it off.

I understand that element is one of the most emotionally draining parts of it, to see people who on paper should be less successful. It's not to say that they try harder or more but clearly they figure out ways to improve their efforts. Sulking in the certainty of defeat is guaranteed to become a self-fulfilling prophecy even if a positive attitude doesn't ensure a positive outcome, not by a long shot.
