It's been hitting the Australian news last couple of days.
The guy was too blunt. Sure, if he has that thinking it can't be helped unless he's open to change his mind about race and looks. But it seemed like the woman was being very self-conscious about her Asian features so it kind of amounts to calling a person with anorexia fat. Possibly these kind of TV-programs encourage confrontations of this kind though, because it attracts attention and viewers.
Yes, agree with all your points. He was being too blunt and she should expect not all men are going to fall in love with her.
We used to have a dating program on Australia called "Perfect match": which was one of the highest rating TV shows in Australia. The contestants were never PoC,
This is still a big issue with dating apps

It’s funny how racial preferences in employment, media and everything would be quickly labeled as racism or racial prejudice(and it’s often so); but when it comes to dating it becomes suddenly “just a personal preference” and people get so defensive about it.
Yeah what a coincidence that more than 95% of your community just “happens” to have this “personal preference” too. Riiight.
Racial prejudice can be seen in patterns; sorry lads but the numbers don’t lie.
Also the article is stupidly blaming apps. That’s like blaming guns for murders. Duh.

What happened to the promise of the Internet creating a more interconnected, open and tolerant world?
It seems modern information technology is only excellent in exposing various prejudices that were conveniently hidden. Before you could always say "she's not my type" and evade the issue, but it's harder to evade a "race filter" on a dating app.

I'm old enough to remember the Bensonhurst riots in 1990. It was on Australian news for a whole week despite happening in an Italian neighbourhood in Brooklyn NY. The entire Italian community of Bensonhurst were up in arms over a story that a local Italian girl (Gina Felicano) had invited black and hispanic guys to her 18th birthday party,
On the night of the girl's birthday the local Italian men roamed Bensonhurst attacking any black male they came across. They eventually killed on 16 year old African American kid. The whole community became the subject of news reporters interviewing random Italians on the street who pretended they didn't know anything about the riot.
The whole Italian community were outraged that a local girl would date a black teen. When news reporters came back to the neighborhood after the rioting finished the local Italians pretended as if nothing happened. That's only a mere 30 years ago.
Any wonder there's a huge stigma for a white girl to date a PoC,

I believe they app companies have removed the race filter (according to the article) but there are other ways girls can filter out darkies, shorties and fatties and block them.

Oh, really. I think you mentioned this before. But guess I forgot. I know you said you were married, and liked worked 40 years. Live in NY.
I felt attraction to a black woman. I don't know what it was. Maybe the differences, maybe it stirred feelings. Maybe its cause it's exotic, taboo, since most people date within their own race.*
I'm primarily attracted to my own racial group. (As are 96% of English white people, if that Census is any indication.) But i could never rule out being attracted to a non-caucasian person, i think cultural disparity would be the main thing impeding such a relationship.
POC in general are more "pneumatic" in key places, and some men consider that irresistibly exciting.

This community seems to be stuck in the Fascist era. Did they move during WW?

Apps get designed according to what people want.

In the same census.
Bangladeshi have a 93% preference for their own race, compared to white English, 96% preference for their own race.
This is not just a white thing.
Bangladeshi /Pakistanis are very close knit.
I live in a area with many such families.
I don't see any that are interracial.
I would not call it Racial prejudice
I would call it a natural affinity for your own racial group.
I do agree, dating apps are irrelevant.
I wonder what the statistics are in Lebanon.

a pity so many folks utterly lack imagination, can't think outside the racial box of their cultures. there is so much beauty in the world being ignored or worse, denigrated just because it is different from one's own.
You've got to be taught
To hate and fear,
You've got to be taught
From year to year,
It's got to be drummed
In your dear little ear
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught to be afraid
Of people whose eyes are oddly made,
And people whose skin is a diff'rent shade,
You've got to be carefully taught.
You've got to be taught before it's too late,
Before you are six or seven or eight,
To hate all the people your relatives hate,
[Before it is all for naught]
You've got to be carefully taught!
[O. Hammerstein]

Oscar Hammerstein was an extremely brave individual to write this in 1947, the words to the musical ridicule the stupidity of prejudice. Alas the message didn't get through their thick skulls.

There were some really brave white families who let their kids go to the first integrated schools in the 1950s. They were also treated horribly by mobs of "Karens" threatening to kill their kids.

I would love to have TV program called "Where are they now" where these monsters (and there were millions of them) are doxxed and shown today in their nursing homes and asked if they still carry their hatred.
