anybody that would take advantage of another's weaknesses is just a garden variety sociopath IMHO. to be avoided at all costs.

“Incorrigible,” in the old days, used to be used almost solely in reference to delinquent youth. Recently, however, the meanings and nuances have expanded.

I still think that the guy was joking in an as*hole sort of way.

He said you were ugly in front of the lady……then he confirmed it later.

He was joking just like most asshat barflies.

You are a glutton for punishment because you continue to patronize that place.

was out earlier tonight and this girl touched my face and said "he's gorgeous"

One of my male friends then said "no he's not he's an ugly little f****r".

Do you think that was a very rude thing to say?

If you’re attracted to women I’d be more interested in what the woman thought, not your male friend. I’ve found that some people joke this way, by insulting. I’ve never liked it, and try to avoid those people. There’s a difference in playfully joking, for instance playing a game and a friend saying, “You suck.” And making those kinds of jokes... and calling you ugly, in my opinion. I had a female friend who used to joke around by poking fun at me, and I dumped her as a friend. It got old and made me feel bad.

Then you should avoid me like the plague Covid Virus. 8O
"Incorrigible" is my middle name.

There’s a difference in playfully joking and putting someone down constantly, making them the punchline. My friends and I joke around and poke fun at eachother. It depends on how you do it. If you are like my old friend then yes I would avoid you. Not yet though, I don’t know you well enough.

Well, I am old, so strike one. 8O

Don't be deceived by my youthful online persona.
I could be your grandfather, almost.
You have been warned.

And, yes, I really am incorrigible.
Ask anyone. ;)

I don’t care about age. I have a friend who is in his late 40’s. No strikes. I thought incorrigible meant habitual, or unable to be changed. You are an incorrigible what? Or am I misunderstanding the concept of the word.

I am resistant to social pressures to behave in expected ways.
You could say I am a rebel, a recalcitrant, a non conformist.

This is due to the abuse I had to endure from society for most of my life.
A victim of ritual abuse and gangstalking. ;)

I can understand that. I become a more confident person, due to people walking all over me. Confident in the sense that I will stand up for myself now most times, if someone is being rude or poking fun at me.

I saw your definition for the word and understand now.

This.

But also... thats just how guys talk to each other.

Between the lines he was actually expressing jealousy to her (why are you giving THAT schmuck attention?).
And kinda giving you a left handed compliment by admitting jealousy.

I am not saying you are.

I am saying that its like you beat him in a game - and you werent even trying (didnt even know that you were playing the game).

The guy was in that place...to pick up chicks. Probably hangs there every saturday night for that reason. And here you come in (maybe for the first time) and get more attention from a lady the moment you come in than he is getting. So from his pov you're an a "schmuck" (ie makes him look bad, and or feel inferior). So its admission that you're the winner - in the game. So its actually a compliment.

I was talking to this girl I knew that same night and when I complimented her on she looked she looked she paused and said to me “your looking well”

She just said that probably because she could not think of anything else to say I guess?

In my day, and I am not a spring chicken, "incorrigible" was usually used as a playful gibe. 8)
Often used when someone was being an incorrigible flirt, which is what I am. 8)
