I don't know what love is, but it sounds like a whole lot of emotional blackmail. Pass.

I think real love would be complete compatibility where biological instincts never get in the way. Unconditional love, where conflicts of territory and dominance and physical attractiveness are non-existent. Love is mostly logical. I don't like how the link above just termed this as merely 'attachment'.

I think it's a mistake to separate feeling and instinct from logic and will. When love is under trial, it may be indeed be scraping by on pure logic and/or willpower, but I'd like to think that the most beautiful kind of love is comprised of feelings and logic in perfect cohesion and measure.

Ah I see, basically instinctual adrenaline-based love is a selfish emotion, and the logic aspect of relationships is caring about the other person. Both are needed to have a stable long term relationship.

I would have taken it to say that the logic is
more realizing that some selfish impulse could
do harm, and should be protected against. But
that the instincts tend to be right, deep down.

The caring is there in both. Just that instincts are
less able to calculate.

I'm afraid all the evidence I can give is my word. I know it seems fake at times (if you're not in love, that is), but it's really not. It's worth believing in.

Real love isn't a joke.

The all-too-prevalent facsimile is.

No, I mean the pretense of love entered into to get other things - could be sex, or could be status, money, children...

I agree with you. Nothing can substitute for love.

This confuses me so much. Well, status and money
can be gotten easier ways, sex trivially so, and CHILDREN?
They're merely a penalty of sex.

I agree, but the NT's - especially the NT women - seem desperate to get them.

Which is really bizarre, considering it's the women who suffer most from having them.

But, whatever. You don't see NT's parading around being logical.
