You guys are hilarious only that I too am guilty of making jokes that're "politically incorrect"....one reason I try and keep it to myself but there are things that I really am ignorant about. It seems even when I ask about those stereotypical yet taboo issues....I end up digging a deeper hole with people. :(

i never got much in trouble online, for being politically incorrect, but thats also cus i never joined big and public and polite forums like this one before (havent gotten in trouble here either, but then again, i have been behaving very nicely :) )

"irl" i got burned a few times tho, but not caring too much about others opinions, it didnt bother me much :D
i did get a "dont touch me!! !" comment, bumping into this chick, after doing a "humorous" drunk rant about how to deal with.. um... the poor in the world

in MY opinion, they should have gotten the joke! i was worse than hitler! that should have been a clue right there! :D

My impulsive-hyperactive ADHD totally derails threads. It's a challenge because things are slower paced here. Zegh's monologue rants complement my hyper-impulse connective tangents and all Hell breaks loose.

God, I'm sorry, SOMEONE KEEP THIS THREAD ON TRACK.

So, then my brain immediately links to the lyrics from The Coat Hanger, "There is no way back, are you on track?". (It almost took me five minutes to type the last sentence because I started to look up a story that was connected to what I was writing, while looking for lyrics and linking the song.)

So, anyway, religion and being an atheist has never made 'dating' hard for me because I've never done it. It definitely hasn't stopped my love life, since atheists seem to attract each other and I know many, many of them. :D Both my ex guy friend and current are atheists by nature. We never actually worried about it when getting involved with each other, though. Birds of a feather flock together.

I've never had much problem with my religious views. Even though Oklahoma is a conservative Bible Belt state, there are plenty of people who aren't very religious, even in my own age range.

Even the conservatives aren't very likely to care. I was dating this one girl who I knew, if I were to run for office would vote against me purely because of my religious affiliation, but she had no qualms with wrapping her arms around me or falling asleep in my arms.

Really, unless you're a public figure or a ranter, most people don't care.

I personally would have difficulty, as an atheist, developing a meaningful relationship with someone who thinks that I am going to burn in hell (aka all monotheisms). Seems the height of cruelty and arrogance.

Do you think Atheism affects your chances in relationships?

In my case , it is : http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt89065.html

what about yours?

This thread is only for atheists , any people of minority groups can reply too.

I doubt so. Because atheism isn't a religion with rules saying who you can and can't marry, you may find yourself less restricted.

But the rules of religious people are still applied to you by the religious, so if you're somewhere with few atheists you may well find yourself more restricted. Also, it seems people from minority religions are more willing to date those of other religions than atheists (like Mexican Jews or European Muslims going for Christians but not atheists)

I have no problem in dating a moderate religious person as long she doesn't care , such people do exist but I am talking about probability , don't you think that atheism affect the probability of success in dating?

That's my issue too, I can't live with someone who thinks that I deserve hell by god in the after all.
