That lamb liver is probably the healthiest bit then, liver contains lots of vitamins. Not sure I would like it raw though.
The food looks really nice, all in all a bit more vegetables than I'm used to. And if we eat vegetables, it's usually cooked to pulp and/or mashed with potatoes. Even though Lebanon isn't that far away I couldn't name most of the things on those tables. I see bread, I think I see falafel, olives and hummus, for the rest it would be a mystery to me. People here also usually don't eat lamb, pork/beef/chicken are more common. And horsemeat of course

Oh, but we do have a long list of cooked vegetable dishes - the stews , some veggie meze dishes are cooked as well like the stuffed grape leaves and stuffed eggplants - but most are raw vegetables.

Stews are rarely eaten in restaurants, they are more home food.

This is the most goo-like stew we have, it's called Mlokhia and it's very popular:
Image

The Egyptian Mlokhia looks more like a goo soup.

Other stews like nicer like this one, okra stew:

There's also a whole list of "Stuffed food" -

They can be zucchini:

or Stuffed grape leaves (different than the meze version, this has meat)
Image

Eggplants:

They can be pepper, tomatoes, potatoes, ...etc:

The okra stew and the stuffed food looks nice. Not too sure on the mlokhia though, looks like spinach soup or something. Real goo should be gooey enough that your spoon or fork can stand upright in it. Like pea soup (soup is a doubtful word here, more like pea goo).
Strange how just about the only Middle-eastern food that is well known here are all meat+bread things, more a kind of fast food. Shoarma+bread, kebab+bread, or Turkish pizza. Of course the locals have to turn shoarma into something weird, like with "kapsalon". Fries + shoarma + vegetables + cheese + LOTS of garlic sauce. Then put in the oven, get it out when the fries are all soggy and awful.

Oooh, this is from Belgium, a "mitraillette", I've never eaten one but I've heard Belgians talk about it. It's bread with meat+fries+mayonaise inside. See how they left out any vegetables? And since they are Belgians they are of course having a can of beer with it. Once you decide that a healthy lifestyle is not for you you can eat and drink ANYTHING.

It's like someone shat on it. It is wonderful though, patat pindasaus should be spread around the world as a hippo spreads... never mind.

As I said, it's like someone shat on it.

I sometimes eat like that and I have not yet become a hippo. Peanut sauce is great, it can go with anything, fries or meatballs or haricots verts, peanut sauce goes with anything.

The trick is to feed her some garlic food too, so she must eat a kapsalon too, that way you'll grow old and fat together without noticing the garlic. Same with smoking, if you are dating a smoker you have to pick up smoking as well, same with beer, coffee, onions.
During the debt crisis some people referred to the troubled countries (Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal) as the Garlic countries with the added stereotypes of lazy and corrupt so the people in the other Euro countries could bask in their own feelings of superiority again.

I think I'll make cacik again sometime, it's even healthy compared to some of the other food posted here.

What you posted there is very similar to something very popular here: Labneh.

Not surprising, Greek and Levantine cuisines are very similar.

It's made of dried yogurt.

cow labneh:

The more traditional version, lamb labneh:

But these are breakfast food, not eaten with meat. There's another less popular common mixed with garlic which is served with meze lunch time.

And there's the common garlic paste which is served with chicken:

Yes, this is mortar and pestle, this how we make most of our pasty food like hummus, potato-hummus, baba ghannouj and garlic paste.

There is strained yoghurt in the Netherlands too, but it's generally eaten with sugar or strawberry jam and not with garlic. Still strange how so many foods are unknown in other places. I like garlic sauces with potatoes. This is a potato with garlic butter in it:

Of course people ruin it, we are the most tasteless and shameless people in the world. This is what we do with bread, add chocolate sprinkles:

Bondkatten is probably eating some Swedish delicacies like fish... or smoked fish... or raw fish.

Image

Or maybe she went all viking and went raiding the shores of England. Never trust those Swedes.
(btw: guy on the right did the voice of Ulfric Stormcloak in Skyrim)

See? ^ There is Bondkatten. She looks angry.
