there is more to "attractiveness" than just physical appearance

regarding the shaving thing... i didn't shave for a lot of years when i was younger. i also used to dress as a boy/man a lot of the time and spent a few years without wearing makeup too. i decided that any guy who cared about it was not worth my time, and that it was my own personal choice whether i looked like a girl or a boy or whether i was hairy or not.

i've softened over the years now i appreciate my feminine side more, and i do wear makeup, dress relatively feminine and do some shaving. but that is my decision and not related to what a partner may prefer.

I do it for "comfort" on some level....even if just mental comfort....but when I first started doing it, it was because I was bullied into doing it.....I have done all of the above (what you have listed)...

Well, I think you're totally cool. And I keep forgetting you're actually older than me! I certainly do NOT act like someone over 30. The pains in my neck, back, and knees serve as not-so-gentle reminders of how hold I am.

yarr...I hate the aches and pains....currently have some manner of tendonitis in my "strumming" hand...shoots all the way up to my shoulder....need to do more stretching...

that sucks to be bullied into something. i understand the desire to try to satisfy a partner or to keep them as happy as possible, and it seems like some people take advantage of that desire and try to force their girlfriend or boyfriend to conform. not cool! glad to read you choose for yourself now.

poopy and hyper, reading your posts just gave me a thought:

How true would you say this statement is: "You are only as attractive as you feel"?

Shaving, yes, but I don't care about makeup. Without shaving, a woman might be too easily mistaken for Bigfoot or a hominid and that would seem too much like bestiality to be a turn-on.

Narcissists aren't very attractive to me, though.

that's a fine line that different people draw in different places

Indeed, a line that I've struggled with for a long time. It's still difficult for me to differentiate between a confident person and an arrogant dick/c**t.

Teehee (just giggling at the imagery)....not all women are naturally very hairy, you know. I'm not. Shaving isn't a real big production for me, which is one reason I do it...not a major deal, why not just remove the little bit that's there (I am dark-haired...if I were blond I probably wouldn't even bother). But even if I didn't, I couldn't be mistaken for Bigfoot or somesuch thing. I shave and wear a little makeup for myself, not for anyone else. My husband couldn't care less (but I wonder if he would if I were...um...more hirsute...maybe I'll ask sometime.... )

One thing my wife (NT) HATES about me is that I find makeup UNattractive. She is naturally very beautiful, and I always just assumed she wore makeup when I first met her. Back then it was only occasional. Now she regularly wears makeup, and I really wish she wouldn't. She explained it to me that it is a ritual of preparation to face the day. This is muh bidniz face and Ima get sh!t done. It gives her, I dunno, a sense of "power" or something.

She shaves mostly regularly, depending on how lazy she feels on any given day. She just doesn't like the way hair feels on her legs.

I once dated someone who was extremely isolated socially. The poor thing made it all the way to college without kissing a boy or so much as a boyfriend, and she had the misfortune of all her firsts with me. Because she never imagined she'd have a reason to shave, she just never did. I didn't care if she was hairy. She was still hot!

You sound like my husband. He actually prefers that I don't wear makeup, says don't cover up your face...LOL. I wear it for work too, and I also get a little annoyed when he says he doesn't like it. He also doesn't care if I shave or not (do that for myself too).

Trust me, out of anyone here I would know this. Maybe you dont know the whole story but pretty much I dont really feel attracted to anyone. I can appreciate beauty, but attracted? No. Well, except for one.

I don't know all that many autie/aspie girls. The majority I know are asexual and don't care too much about their looks. I'm an aspie girl. I know one aspie girl who has some similarities as me, but we would be considered attractive for different reasons. The autie girls I know are very different than me.

 The degree of this hyperbole demonstrates how dichotomous is the "normal" conception of women vs. NATURAL state.
