Call me Fnord. I am a metasyntactic variable in the source code of life.

I am a 50-ish married white male, Navy veteran, Technical Specialist (Transportation Electronics), Elder of a Presbyterian church, and father of three men.

My wife and I live close enough to Disneyland to see the fireworks every night. We are both active in our church, and we enjoy asian and midwestern cooking.

Personally, I enjoy playing an RPG called "Traveller" ("Science-Fiction Adventure In The Far Future"), which has been around for 30 years. I am also a licensed amateur radio operator - designing and building my own equipment.

Taking any Asperger's Syndrome self-diagnostic test always indicates that I have a high probability of being an Aspie. My childhood may as well have been scripted by the test-writers. But I still have not been 'officially' diagnosed as an Aspie. It would explain a lot, but if word got out, I fear that there would be repercussions, both social and career-wise.

Drop a line.

-Fnord-

Hi all,

I'm a 37 year old german programmer, living in Amsterdam/Netherlands by now.
I like biking, reading, programming, 3D rendering.

I have taken some self diagnostic tests in the internet and they all showed, that i'm most likely an Aspie. No big surprise.
Funny somehow, that i never did this before, since I knew well enough about my socialising trouble. Maybe I was sure enough of it anyway.

But I should have researched a bit. Some of the links on those test pages where very helpful, especialy that one to WrongPlanet. I read through some of the posts and was a bit astonished, to find some perfect matches to lot's of old questions. Mainly that eye-contact problem, described from the NT view, which I never really understood or was sure what they expect of me. I only knew, I did it wrong (by not having it at all)

Many years ago I decided never to post in a forum again because they all sucked. A few days ago I found this site, and now everything's changed :D What I'm thinking now is that I simply have difficulty dealing with NTs in large numbers... I'm enjoying reading the posts of people who don't take social life for granted enough that I've decided to post back.

Since I've only just found out about AS in any detail, I am undiagnosed/self-diagnosed... I'll be talking to my psychiatrist - who I am seeing for depression - about it soon.

Hmm, I was going to post a lengthy article referring to each of the aspie virtues and my struggles with them (and in fact I wrote some of it out and deleted it twice), but you know, I think that'd be boring.

Instead, I'll just say... hey, I'm 28, my main interest/obsession is stories... anything that has a story in it can gain my attention in it. This means lots of books, especially novels, but also short stories, auto biographies, comics... you name it. It also means games, though I do tend to get into non-story aspects there, such as getting a char of every class to top level in an rpg. It also means I love it when I can get a life story out of someone interesting. I can be pretty lucky in that regard... sometimes people I hardly know tell me their life story including a lot of secrets without much prodding. Turning such people into long-term friends is where I have trouble. I'm also lucky in that I managed to cultivate one really great friend, and I meet up with others in our circle through him.

I have a lot of trouble in romance, primarily due to difficulty with the motivation to find people with similar interests. Luckily, through this website I recently found meetup. com, which looks like a nice easy way to achieve that goal. Joined two book meetups and one live music meetup, which all seem reasonably promising.

Hi, I'm Miranda, and I'm new, hence why I'm posting here. I'm 17 years old but I'll be turning 18 tomorrow :D .
Earlier this year, I started seeing a therapist regarding some anxiety issues. I've always had difficulties controlling my emotions- I cry way too easily (which I hate) and I often am way too hard on myself. Also, I get really nervous before I have to audition for something or perform by myself (I'm fine in a group). I like to sing and play the viola, so this is often a problem because I have to audition sometimes for that.
Anyway, after seeing the therapist for a couple weeks, we determined that I have Asperger's, or at least a mild form of it anyway. I say a mild form because my therapist says that she mostly treats people with Asperger's that have school problems and I have NEVER had problems in school- I've always been really smart, not to brag or anything.
I mainly have social-type problems. There's the crying, which I already mentioned. It's also really, really hard for me to make friends, especially if I have to initiate a conversation with them. Also, sometimes I talk too fast and don't let anyone get a word in edgewise.
I often feel like I'm completely different from everybody else- like the "normal" people can somehow tell that I have Asperger's, even though my Mom and my therapist have told me that it's not that obvious with me.
Oh, and sometimes I jokingly say that I'm "missing a girl gene" because I'm TERRIBLE at styling my hair, putting on makeup, and deciding what clothes to wear. They'd have a field day with me on "What Not to Wear". I just have no awareness of trends and what everyone else is doing.
Of course, when I was little, my parents just said that I "marched to the beat of my own drummer" and that I would get over my social problems eventually, which I didn't.
I have to say, I was REALLY upset when I found out that I had Asperger's because I don't want to think of myself as having a "problem" of any kind. I'm coming to terms with it better, now.

My name is Heather, but you can also call me DragonKazooie89. I'm eighteen years old and I was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome when I was 11 or 12, around the same time I was diagnosed with Scoliosis. In late June it will be four years since I got back surgery to straighten my back. I still have the rods in me and I can't stay on my feet all day because of it. I usually like being by myself unless it has to do with video games, anime, movies, tv shows I like and the internet. I consider anime, video games, computers and the internet to be my obsessions. I'm a nice person but I have a tendency to blurt loudly in conversations from time to time and act on instinct. I have to take Lexapro to keep myself from lashing out and getting out of control and Vyvanse to help me concentrate on my school work.

My hobbies include using my computer, surfing the web, drawing, spriting, playing video games, watching tv, mainly cartoons and anime, and listening to music. I have been playing video games since 1997 or 1998 and I am a fan of Nintendo (Mainly Pokemon, Mario and Super Smash Bros.), Sonic and Banjo-Kazooie. If you ever want to play a Wii or DS game with me on Wi-Fi, just send a PM. I know some Spanish because of high school and I am half Hispanic and I am currently learning Japanese through workbooks, CD and the internet. I want to go visit Japan some day and maybe some countries in Europe like England and Spain.

You can also find me by this name at deviantART, Nsider2, Flash Flash Revolution, Gaia Online and YouTube. I also go by the name doomdesire5 at Neopets. I have accounts on other forums too but these are the main ones I visit almost every day.

Hey everyone. I choose my name long ago before my kids were diagnosed. It is a tounge in cheek thing.

I have two boys, both diagnosed even though I and the school thinks the older one is much more ADHD with just a touch of Aspiesness.

It is possible that I have Asperger's and have been diagnosed ADHD as a child.

Nice to be here. :)

Oh my god, I would be called a rotten little boy by some of the neighborhood
women as a child, usually the stupid fat church do gooders, they would tell
their children, stay away from that rotten little boy, haa, they were right I didn't
like their fat little piglet children, they tended to be teachers pets and would
squeal like little piggy's if I did anything in class, I hated living in a small town,
everyone knew your business.
