It isn't clear that everyone gets upset for the exact same reasons. There are at least at least a couple members who seem to be triggered by almost any kind of male frustration, like it is a slippery-slope to abuse or even rape. You can tell because they often respond by accusing the male of being entitled. At least that's how it seems to me.

And I don't understand these people.

I did post two links of two threads posted bt Kitty, where she was complaining and asking Why men do this and that, why young men like old women?... etc.

I was sarcastically pointing these threads by Kitty (you can find them on page 2 of L and D) as sexist since they contain generalizations, the same way how those users you are talking about get offended.

But personally? I don't give a damn, I was never offended by Kitty's threads, I don't think she's sexist or having any ill thought against men.

In fact I think she is a cool lady.

And I don't think any male user ever thought that of her posts.

Nope, he wasn't talking about these "why do women do X" rants. Some women really take offense when they shouldn't. They are not many and it doesn't happen so often, but it happens.

As do some men.

Of course, it is obvious. In both cases these people need to stop making drama.

Careful peacesell, someone may tell you that saying 'making drama' about some user is a personal attack. :p

They will say the phrase 'making drama' is sexist because men use it disproportionately on women ("drama queen"). I might agree, but then there are other words that are used disproportionately on men. Men are more likely to be 'pigs', but real pigs are actually cute little pink buggers so I don't quite get it.

The sneering nature of many posts on L & D for a long time have done so much to contaminate this subforum as a whole. I can't be bothered with it.

The overwhelming number of posts are not bigoted.

Whether people perceive it that way it is another matter.

I think there are issues. The thread asking about hot aspie females really takes the cake.

That thread is a self parody that is really old. The user isn't even active.

If anyone is offended by that, then they might want to grow a thicker skin. Nobody on that thread is taking it seriously.

I gotta say, some of the reactions to Boo's taking a few plays out of the social justice playbook has been pretty amusing. People have been clamoring for an ignore button for years, it's probably the most requested feature on WP.Net if you don't count getting rid of CAPTCHA, but somehow the suggestion of doing it informally, and in the interests of make a notably contentious forum less acrimonious no less, makes it an offensive personal attack in the minds of some people. I have a list of people I don't respond to in any way because it's annoying or a waste of my time, I'm sure most people do, so I don't see how Boo deciding to share his list semi-privately somehow makes it beyond the pale. I'll bet any seasoned user of L&D, PPR, and/or WD could guess which names are on that list, just as I'm sure I could easily duplicate who would be on an opposing list, it's pretty obvious.

Exactly.
Announcing that a list of "opposing" members is circulating is just a way to exclude and form cliques. It is silly. I think a lot of posters in L&D have ruffled feathers and are frustrated by not being able to understand other worldviews.

it is easy to ignore someone, no technology required.

However if your impulse control sucks, then a little knowledge of jquery, basic knowledge of html/css, how to use a browser inspect tool and something like greasemonkey you can hide any user you want.

However there is no getting round the fact, people need to start taking more responsibility for their own feelings. This includes those that kick off and those that might be affected but something someone says.

If people feel wounded or triggered that is not necessarily anything to do with the supposed subject. They aren't responsible for underlying pre-existing problems.

I believe it's more like people Boo does not believe it's possible to have a civil discussion with than people he disagrees with.

It's not as simply as about disagreeing, dox, I just think it's a waste of time to reason with someone who insists to see imaginary demons in every word you say.
