I am not sure if I should laugh or head-desk

maybe both.

Oh be careful. :P jk.

When I was a kid my brother told me a joke, and it was so funny(ok, I was a kid) that i effectively head desked with my mouth open. Broke my tooth off!

I was a clumsy little aspie!

go ahead and laugh shiggily. i'm crying. you've obviously won, or you're better than me, smarter than me, whatever else you would like me to say, ok? you have been right with everything you have said to me, and i have been consistently wrong. you are married and i'm not so you must be more successful in relationships than me. you have a degree in mathematics, i have no degree in anything, so obvious smarter and better educated. you have a job, yes? and i don't, so financially and in your career you are more successful than me. you're even prettier than me, too. is there anything else you would like me to cede to you, because i will, i will say whatever you like if you will just leave me alone, ok? please. that's all i ask. i'll say anything. i am genuinely hurting, and if that makes you happy then take that too, i don't care anymore, just please leave me alone, ok?

?

I wasn't laughing at you. :?

I was laughing at Ben

I fail to see how I am "better, smarter, more successful, prettier" than you.

in fact I am just downright confused.

i will say that maybe this should indicate to some of you why threads like this are really not such a good idea. people have feelings, and they can be very easily hurt by stuff like this....it's like high school all over again.

tbh I think you have good points and those are the very reason threads like this are completely s**t. By the way you aren't ugly, so don't feel it. I think you look cute. You may just think that i'm trying to be nice but tbh you are better looking than most people I see IRL.

But i've also seen about 20 other women (and men in regards to the mens thread) with them in their avatar who I haven't really seen get a mention.

I have low self esteem so I know what its like feeling like s**t, my main advice is to do your best to make yourself feel better, who cares what other people do and don't think.

There isn't a day go by where some internet a***hole isn't bagging somthing about me. You just need to do what you do in life for yourself, not for others.

you know considering the amount of psychological abuse, and resulting sensativity and self-esteem issues most aspies deal with. I question the wisedom of such threads as this

I have had all 3 of those and I see no problem with these threads...

I agree. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It is true that some one can look alot different in real life than they do in a photo.
I couldn't compete because I don't have any modelling type photo's of my self. Just there holding my baby or walking up some stairs etc and its just a snap shot camera, not zoom lens of anything but I wouldnt be hesitant to post photos in the members only thread. Personally, I think this one is childish - "Who is the most attractive aspie' - it is the kind of discussion people would talk about in junior high.

I say, it is all in fun, and those who participate are to be commended for having self-confidence. It might be tough for those who do not feel confident enough to get involved, but why bash those who do? It is not an actual competition and should be looked at as an achievement for those who participated, and feel good about themselves. Maybe a goal for those who are not ready to put themselves out there yet? This is for fun people, nothing more. If you don't feel comfortable participating, then don't, simple as that. :)

I don't think that was the point.. she was upset because she wasn't mentioned. But people should take it with a grain of salt, Fiz wasn't mentioned and she's f'ing gorgeous. Most people just nominated themselves, so it isn't really a popularity contest if people are nominating themselves as opposed to "voting".

What would be completely inappropriate would be having a poll listing members asking which one is the most attractive. Moderators would be all ontop of that s**t. Not the same.

I am not bashing those that do it, I just think these threads would lead to more pain then fun.

A person gets up the confidence to post a pic. Their pic is then completely ignored. Something most of us have had to deal with in real life. Thus in their eyes their attempt at taking a chance had failed and most likely resulted in that self-esteem being crushed.

true, no one is voting. That would be a little... inappropriate.

People should keep such opinions and putdowns such as that to themselves

most people enjoy the turn that this thread took for the positive. Though it is not positive anymore. Why would it matter if a person's pic is ignored? no one is voting. there is no contest.

What are you talking about? I said Fiz is gorgeous.. HOW is that a put down?

I try to be nice about people and get slammed for it, it's driving me nuts, may as well not bother.
