I don't really see what is more to add to this thread, we have already demonstrated the L&D is not different, and even somewhat better than it has been in the past.

Just becuase somebody has a meltdown doesn't mean everything is falling apart.

Perception is often a different thing from reality. Lets put things into perspective and move on.

Agreed.

If anything since this thread was made I have only noticed L&D improving in quality.

Just look at the first page, much of it is now what L&D is intended to be - actual dating advice and discussion.

And that raises no alarm bells? Especially since alot of these "ideal" posts are by "new" users?

Are you saying the new users are fake accounts? Or that older users are staying away because of the perceived increased scrutiny due to this thread?

I'm sure my detractors will get a kick out of that.

New users are fake. It's a pretty big coincidence if you ask me.

I think, in general, that we have less "serious" issues within L & D than previously.

Sounds quite conspiratorial. Can you back this up with stats compared to historical precedent?

I'd bet if you when back several months the vast majority of threads would be reasonable. Years even.

Yes there are bad periods, but people tend to forget the innocuous threads.

I find it irritating he's focusing on this instead of the many many problems constantly reported in the wp.net section.

I think everyone would like to see a fix of the disappearing text and inability to post long posts or posts with quotes.

Yep it's ironic, actual users can't post 80% of the time but spam bots which the whole system is designed to stop seem to get through with no problem.

I don't get why it targets long posts ,the spam posts are usually short one paragraphs posts.

Stats would be interesting. It's not the reasonableness of the threads I'm suspicious of its the fact that brand new users are posting about very specific problems after it was suggested that L&D should only be used for specific problems.

I think she's suggesting that old users are making new accounts to start threads that make L&D appear inoffensive until the heat is off. I would say that's paranoia except that I've seen people here (I'm not thinking of anyone in particular) go to great lengths to get their way and be right.
