Talk about yourself for a bit
Sorry about the brevity of the previous post - couldn't get anything longer to work, till I realised - that gizmo that blocks URLs from newbies was the culprit. Anyway, here's an explanation of what I'm doing here:
At the ripe old age of 55, I did an online test (Rdos) a couple of weeks ago, and it said I'm "very likely" to be an Aspie (score was 139/200 for Aspie, 77/200 for neurotypical). So I took another online test (a Newsweek questionnaire) - again, I came out very Aspie.
So what I want to do now is find out for sure, if such a thing is possible. For the time being I'm steering clear of getting a formal diagnosis, as I'm unsure of the possible implications of making it official, and not even sure if such a "definitive" test is definitive, having heard of other people who disagree with the medical profession's diagnosis in their own cases.
Meanwhile I'm just quietly looking at the thing to see if I can work anything out for myself. The similarities I've noticed between my personality and the diagnostic features of Aspergers are striking to say the least, and when I look at them I can hardly believe I might not be Aspie, but I'm sure there have been times in my life when my social "performance" has been remarkably outgoing and immediate, and if I understand the condition properly, Aspies aren't supposed to be able to do that, are they?
So that's where I'm at right now. Assuming anybody's interested in my dilemma, I'm not sure whether to use this thread as the vehicle for examining this further, or to start another one just for my question, and limit this one to just saying hello.

Oh, how to begin such a thing.... well, for starters,
I'm male. I'm 16, almost 17
(will be in December). I have a large variety of
interests, some of which include First Nations history
and language, Canadian history, languages, geography,
orienteering/outdoorsmanship and map(ping)s. I also
collect useless information known to the general
population as trivia, and store such information in my
brain for future use at opportune moments. I also have
keen interests in writing, poetry, prose, spoken word
etc. I enjoy pretty much everything in that vein.
Currently, I have a blog which I try to write in at
regular intervals, and would be overjoyed if someone
were to comment. No pressure, I didn't say you have
to, just a thought eh. The link is in my sig, since I
can't post web addresses yet.
As far as the music spectrum goes, I enjoy a wide
array of things, but am presently interested mostly in
Native hip hop, since I have discovered that it is
more readily available at mainstream music stores than
I had thought. Some of my favorite authors include,
Dostoevsky, Ian Frazier, among many others. I am also
obsessed with anything to do with Pine Ridge, South
Dakota, and any other places named Pine Ridge.
I have a semi-official diagnosis of AS because I was
given a diagnosis by a professional who doesn't
officially diagnose AS, but it is not possible for
monetary reasons for me to obtain an official
diagnosis, and I am not sure that I need an official
tag, since I already have a few of those!
If you share any similar interests, please feel free
to PM me etc.
Somehow I seemed to have formatted the post funny, sorry about that eh!
Best response, BLAME THE COMPUTER

visit me sometime eh? I don't bite.... truthfully!
"Hiii Tim!"
I'm 16 years old and live in Wellington, New Zealand. I was diagnosed with AS at about the age of ten, but didn't fully realize it until about a year ago. I'm interested in various things, although I can go for days without getting an obsession. I've got a story called Outcast which I plan to publish as a book series and eventually make a set of movies on it. I'm in a love relationship with the user Starbuline and we love each other very much, and we met thanks to WP.
I met a guy from this site too. He was new, thinking that he could find friends here. He wanted to be my friend, since we are both with Asperger's and live in LA.
Last week, I told him to stop emailing me because we have nothing in common.
Was I too quick to judge?
Well, here goes. My name is Nathan, I'm 16 and live in Lewiston, Maine. I have Aspergers and ADHD, although they haven't seemed to have any impact on my life until a few weeks ago. All of a sudden I've realized just how different I am from other people, and when I finally decided to learn about AS all my questions about why I can't make friends were certainly answered... but of course, I couldn't help but wonder what I can do to cope with my problems.
So here I am, at the only website where I can expect to find other human-like sophisticated organisms like myself. Regarding my life besides my issues, I have an intense interest in video games and music, particularly Mozart and other classical works. I tend to spend most, if not all of my free time playing games such as Warhammer Online that allow me to converse with other people in ways that I would never be able to in the material world.
That's only a small part of my story, but then again, that's all life is - a series of small parts.

Well, they were.
Sup world my name is brandon and I live in the state of North Carolina. I just recently found out about asperger's earlier this year and it seemed like I had many of the symptoms. I was really depressed for a months but now I've learned to ACCEPT who I am and just be the best person I can be. I've pretty much been a house person most of my life and now im ready and try new things and make friends to enjoy my time with.
Hi:
I joined this site because I have a son diagnosed with PDD(NOS) whom I think most closely fits the Asperger descriptions.
I was a NT but slightly weird and socially awkward child. I was precocciously verbal and read early and A LOT. I was in gifted classes. We moved often so I was usually "the new girl".
I had glasses, I had braces. Today, at almost 40, I have braces AGAIN and wear contacts.
I have 3 very close in age kids - one born to me and two adopted from another country at ages past infancy. Between the three of them we have learned about severe food allergies, visual impairment including nystagmus, ADHD, autism spectrum, giftedness, and attachment disorder.
I blog about life with my son and his brilliant differentness on blogspot.
The title of the blog is:
"Brilliant Spectrum Child: the adventures of Orangeboy and his antagonists". I can't post the address yet.
[quote="Flagg"]I'm Aaron. I have cross dominant hands, this means one of my hands is prefered for some tasks and the other hand does a different set. (I hold eating utensils with my left hand and use scissors with my right) I play the violin, the guitar and the saxophone. /quote]
I have cross dominant hands also. I consider myself a lefty mostly. My grandmother was completely ambidextrous. I play french horn, my husband plays sax, my Dad plays oboe, my brother plays the guitar a bit.

Great reads are To Kill a Mockingbird, In Cold Blood, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, The Accidental Tourist (was Macon Leary an aspie?) to name a few. Must have record is the first Ramones...a true classic.
I have adapted well to social situations which were awkward thru sheer determination. I still can't always look people in the eye, have trouble understanding people (especially the opposite sex) and tend to prefer my own company by isolating way too much. I am jealous of people who navigate the social world far better than I do and am envious of their relationships.
There's not much around here but farmland and great scenery. I went to university and somehow managed to get a degree in history. How did I do that?!
Oh, I was born in San Francisco, but didn't stay too long (wish we had). I also have been blessed with obsessive compulsive disorder. There's a tendency for my to obsess about my AS diagnosis as it took so long to get I am afraid it will be taken away from me (major nightmare scenario). Snap out of it, Darren!
Here in Wrongplaet I am hoping to converse with people, make friends, get help and ideas, and who knows....?
That's about it, Darren in a nutshell.

My natural state is that of a caring, intelligent, inspired and passionate person, but I have a tendency when rejected to become embittered, angry, helpless, and aggressive verbally. I am someone I would consider complex and very chamelion-like...it takes a special person to truly get to know me on any level or to get close to me.
I too struggled a lot of my life with anorexia. I'm 4 1/2 years into recovery. I become the same way as you do in the 2nd paragraph as well.
