Where are you from that you've never heard of almonds? :?

They're probably about the next most commonly sold nut here after peanuts. They're in chocolate bars, or sold as chocolate covered almonds.. you can buy them roasted or raw (rare-ish), or as almond butter (kind of expensive stuff).. or as thinly sliced almond slivers for decorating desserts etc. Pretty common nuts, here. Just googled to see where they're grown - 82% of the world's supply is grown in California, so directly South of me a thousand Kms or so. That would explain why they're a relatively common nut in this part of the world. But where are you where you've never even heard of them? :?

People know about the almond nut---but very few people know about the almond FRUIT.

This is definitely a thing I do not know about.

Almonds do sorta look like apricot pits. Do they grow a fleshy fruit outside of them just the same?

Actually, the almond nut emanates from the almond fruit.

The fruit is actually a member of the peach family.

I wonder why it's never been widely marketed?

Maybe it doesn't taste very good.

Is that the same thing as being lactose intolerant or are you allergic to milk? Or is it something else?

I get diarrhea, not all the time, less then or about half. It’s random. When I was young I was told not to eat dairy, but lactose milk and products were a lot back then. I dont know if I’m allergic and that’s why it does it, I drink almond milk now, but still eat cheese, high I can’t do nights before I work morning or go to the gym. I haven’t seen the doctor for it for years though. They probably assume I’ve been eating lactose free stuff lol. Almond milk is twice what milk is by the way but cheaper then it was when I was a kid. $3 for half a gallon. $3 would get a agallon of milk.

The gallon of cows milk is £2.18 which converts to $3.03. The last time I bought almond milk it was £1.50 for a litre which converts to $4.17 half a gallon but I've never seen it sold in more than litre (2pints) size.

I used to have almond milk in my porridge for breakfast every morning I liked the taste.

Comes in 946ml(non fridge 0.o), 1.89 l, and big 2.84l
I get the 1.89 aka half gallon.
Milk is almost $4 a gallon now I guess. Does you milk come in cartons or bags like Canada does?

If you make your almond milk at home is much nicer. And probably cheaper. Also you don't need to throw it , only make what you drink.

Almond milk is in cardboard cartons but cows milk comes in plastic bottles that then get recycled, but one of our big supermarkets is going plastic free so things are about to change.

Have you ever tried goat milk/cheese/yogurt?

Westerners, especially the brits, seem to find goat dairy appalling I dunno why, but goat milk, cheese and goat yogurt are extremly common here. I think it’s common in France too.

Goat yogurt is used in cooking too, it resists the heat well.

I like goat cheese, unfortunately it gives me acne, and so does sheep cheese so I am cheeseless

We Brits (with a capital since you used one for France) eat everything these days but yes we didn't used to.

Yes, we are the islands off the coast of Brittany so we were named the Brittany Isles.

They are called Bretons.
