If a gay guy hits on you...
Disagree, on both fronts.
That doesn't mean I despise people who eat mushy peas, or preach to them about eating mushy peas - I just don't want them to do it in front of me, because it sickens me. The person is not their behavior.
But you are drawing a completely false distinction between something someone chooses to do (eat mushy peas, which I think are delicious btw, you wrongmo!) and something someone is.
I dare say it might make moviefan happier if homosexuals didn't have sex.
But that's not going to happen.
It's not a diet choice like eating mushy peas.
(Or of course they could all get damn well back in the closet and never such a cock again.)
But why should they?
Moviefan has not dealt with the incident at all, preferring to trot out that sh***y old Christian cliché of 'loving the sinner, hating the sin'.
What he means is that he finds sexually active homosexuals despicable.
Yeah, and some of my best mates are black...
being hit on by anyone you find unattractive can be creepy and unpleasant no matter if they are the same sexual orientation or not.
being homophobic is not a crime. believing that all gays go to hell is not a crime. Writing about it and inciting hatred of gays IS a crime.
You cannot police what is in someone's head nor should you.

Next contestant, leafplant, special subject the bleedin' obvious.
Well, gee, thanks for pointing that out. As it happens, I was just calling a homophobe a homophobe, despite his sh***y little attempt to 'love the sinner'.
I'm sorry, but we seem to be speaking two slightly similar versions of the English language, in which my definition "To argue strongly against" appears to be coincident with your meaning of the verb: "Police."
Moviefan is a miserable little homophobe, and it gives me no great pleasure to say so. I have passed my judgement, and it is therefore The Law.
Yeah, and some of my best mates are black...
First of all, up yours.
Second of all, up yours.
You're the one who seems to have the prejudice here. You're the one linking Moviefans' discomfort (very common in men of all beliefs) in a scenario with a carte blanche rejection of homosexuals as people. This is not so - then, as pointed out, even if it was - he has the right to think what he wants.
What you say about choice or not is irrelevent, on the mushy pea front - in this context. You are taking a sexual behaviour and saying that it is an indentity. But I am not denying your identity - I just (respectfully) refuse to make it more (or less) important than anyone else's.
If I met you, I would look at the person - not the behaviour, or not even the 'identity'. I would like or dislike you regardless of your sexuality, which means nothing to me. If you ate mushy peas in front of me, I would look away. Does that make me a peeophobic? Is that attacking your identity as a mushypea-eater? Believing this is as ridiculous in saying what you are saying.
But why should they?
I agree - why should they. A closet is a bit cramped to perform fellatio. But this has nothing to do with not liking being hit on. Next you'll say because I don't want to perform fellatio, or even watch it, that makes me homophobic, or denying your identity. Please...
And don't you dare imply that I am homophobic (because I am not in the slightest) or you can find somewhere else to post. You don't know me. And you don't know moviefan. There are board rules here. I hope you have the good grace to apologise.
Thank goodness your way of thinking is almost obsolete - many people just get on with it nowadays. Sexuality is as important as gender as important as skin colour as important as nationality. We are all equal. Where this doesn't happen in practice, discrimination should be tackled.
I didn't suggest that you were homophobic. So I have nothing to apologise for, and so you can just calm down a bit.
I did say that moviefan was a homophobe, and I stand by that.
He described homosexual acts as 'despicable'.
The dictionary definition of 'despicable' is: "deserving hatred and contempt."
(Synonyms: contemptible, loathsome, hateful, detestable, reprehensible, abhorrent, abominable, awful, heinous, beyond the pale)
So describing something as 'despicable' not only identifies it as something to be hated, it encourages others to hate it too. (See dictionary definition above, if you doubt it).
This is what's called 'incitement'.
So yes, by his own words, moviefan is a homophobe, who seeks to spread hatred of homosexuals who aren't celibate.
I doubt this would be tolerated if the subject were women, blacks or Muslims.
Any arguments over that one, so shall we move on?
I should add moviefan that I have no personal axe to grind against you, and I merely mean the above post as an objective statement of fact. If you have some unique and personal definition of 'despicable' that cuts against what I have posted, please feel free to correct me.
With love, in any case.
