The term 'curvy' typically refers to the figure-eight shape of women, formed by breasts, wide hips, and a thin waist. In my opinion, it does not inherently mean fat. There are different body types - a women can have wide hips and a small chest, a large chest and smaller hips, small everything, or big everything. Evolutionarily speaking, it is primarily the hips that get a man's attention, as they signify better probabilities for childbirth. Breasts are for feeding young; the attraction to breasts is almost entirely a social construct.

Yes but obese women have begun using this word to describe themselves. Rolls are not curves. IMO it can be misleading if you are talking about a dating website. Thin women can be curvy because their waist goes in and their hips go out. I am not knocking overweight women or criticizing. I just find it is an annoying misuse of the word. I believe that when a man says he likes a curvy figure, he is talking about a feminine figure that is closer to an hourglass, so it must be disappointing to find out a "curvy" lady he is talking to online is actually morbidly obese.

I wouldn't call her athletic or curvy, I would call her skinny.

Err no it isn't... it depends on your body shape.

Curves are popular shapes. Some curves are more popular than other curves. Smooth curves tend to be the more popular. Cars have curves. Some rocks have curves. Well, you can find them in almost any kind of object, really, even stuff like trees or fingernails. They are typically lines with non-abrubt bends.

I'm new here, so someone tell me if this guy is being sarcastic or literal. lol

literal. Curves are pleasing.

They are.
Besides skeletal differences, a greater proportion of subcutaneous fat makes women generally more curvy than men. Incidentally, more subcutaneous fat also typically results in a softer, or at least more cushioning, skin. An excess of subcutaneous fat also tends to be far less harmful than an excess of visceral fat, and is even a potential health advantage under some conditions - with a loose interpretation of "excess".

I am familiar (in my area anyway) with "curvy" meaning voluptuous or thick. Which in guy-speak means "a little bit fat but I'd still hit it".

Maybe it's a regional thing, but where I'm from "curvy" is usually not a euphemism for fat (at least not when a guy says it).

All bets are off when a catty girl is saying it because we guys all know how they can be. If they ever found a hangnail on Adriana Lima, it would hit the rumor mill within nanoseconds.

This should give you an idea of skinny versus curvy. Real curvy, not some excuse word for being fat.

Thanks to the women on dating sites, the word "curvy" has lost its original meaning, and now stands for "obese". It, however, is far from being the only casualty of this phenomenon.

The following terms and phrases in a woman's profile mean she's obese:

"I have a few extra pounds..."

"I need to start going to a gym..."

"I don't exercise as much as I should..."

"I'm on the thicker side but consider myself to be attractive..."

"I'm a Botticellian beauty..."

"I'm well-rounded..."

"I'm big and beautiful..."

"There's more of me to love..."

"Oh, and the last thing... if you're into skinny b*****s, don't message me."

etc.

I don't think they get it yet AspergersGirl.

You should post more pictures of Kim Kardashian until they get it. For the sake of educating the masses.

So skinny is track & field and curvy is soccer player? I look on the right and the the thing I notice is that her quads and calves are almost as big as mine. Gemma would protest being called skinny next to these two as well!

This thread reminds me of the Lane Bryant Lingerie Commercial Fox and ABC banned.
Click here to see it on YT, it is very tasteful
I found the 'curvy' model in this commercial to be extremely sexy and attractive. She would be welcome across the table from me anytime.

Chubbier ladies are often sexy as hell. It's a pity that women don't tend to think the same about men, though...

So losing weight it is then.

Some women don't.
I personally don't have a bias to body size if I fall for a person.

Not all women need a man with a six-pack. That's not to say that a lot of women are tolerant of something more extreme than just a little beer gut, though.

One thing I have realized with women is this... whoever makes them look more small, petite, and dainty BY COMPARISON works for them. Hell, I'm sure everyone has known a girl at one time or another who makes it a point to befriend "ugly" people because it makes 'em look better. They wouldn't even dream of going out to a club with someone whose looks put them to shame.

Edit: Before I get lynched. This does not account for ALL women. Just a lot of them. lol
