The main plot is Shaun getting over his immaturity, being thrown into a situation where he at least makes an effort to excel, and winning back his girlfriend.

Oh, I see. Well, in that case, you might be correct.

Shaun of the Dead is a romantic comedy now?!

Umm, yes. It always was. The zombie apocalypse is the B-plot.

Huh. I always thought it was just a straight-up comedy about a zombie apocalypse. I never caught on to the 'romantic' aspect of it.

And yet...KaiG is right. It really is a romantic comedy. I love Simon Pegg. I see all his movies so I can appreciate how skillfully and hilariously he can weave together two different genres. Another wonderful romantic comedy he did was "Run,Fatboy,Run" with a similar romantic premise that he must do something amazing to win his true love (who he left on the altar after getting her pregnant, which is why he must go to great lengths). The amazing thing he has to do is run a marathon even though he is badly out of shape and nearly physically unable to do it. Of course it's ridiculous. But truly good romantic comedies have ridiculous premises.

Simon Pegg Yay!

I find them tiresome, boring, and full of nonsense cliches. Especially the parts where the woman gets mad at the guy for the DUMBEST thing.

Don't forget Edgar Wright's contributions to Shaun and Hot Fuzz. He co-wrote and directed them both. For my money he's one of the best and most interesting directors of this generation.

The next romantic comedy I'm going to see is another Edgar Wright movie, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. It has the additional distinction of being based on one of my favourite comicbook series, and truly seems like the perfect meeting of director and material. One only has to look at Wright's work on Spaced to see how well he can merge fantasy with reality in a way that encapsulates the experiences of a generation.

So I should never talk to outgoing and social people? That leaves me with rapists and creeps. *sigh* Life would be SO much easier if I were a lesbian. Seriously, women hit on me more than guys do. Apparently I give off a lesbian vibe. I don't know why. I don't wear plaid shirts or mullets.

KaiG - Valentine's Day. I know nothing about it but that it was a recently-made romantic comedy and I wanted nothing to do with it.

Did you just imply that men who are not outgoing are all rapists and creeps? That is more than a little offensive.

*edit* Just noticed that Surya got there first.

Erisad, I don't think it is really me you should be saying sorry to.

Think of it like how you feel when you think guys will not date you, because they either say or you think, 'your fat'.

Look at it this way;
All fat girls are ugly and not worth the time of day.
All men who are not outgoing are rapists and creeps.

Generalising is a huge pet peeve of mine. But it is easy to get caught up in it.
And from that generalisation you made about men, how long do you think before it could
start being used against women?

All women who are not outgoing are rapists and creeps.

Then what happens?

I know. Generalizing is a terrible habit of mine. I try not to but when I'm emotional, my filter is gone. :(

What Erisad is expressing reflects what 90% of women instinctively think , there's a stereotype for rapists and male serial or mass killers : Anti-social , no friends, somehow narcissist , adult virgin , no past relationships, not outgoing , not easygoing, socially odd and weird...etc

In other terms, many of the male "aspie" 's typical traits and rapists/mass killers 's traits overlap , most women avoid men with such traits.

Concrete example for you: Which man is gonna appear more creepy to most women? The man in the bar with so many friends of both genders and who seems acting very normal or the man who's setting alone in the corner so quietly with no companion at all who seems to be hiding some great secret within himself?

Yeeeah. That still doesn't excuse what I said. D:

Sure, I would love a man who could easily adapt to my group of friends, that would make the relationship even better. Granted, I do avoid creepy guys because of the way they carry themselves. They tend to make conversations awkward and forced. It's great that he's trying to be social though. :D

...maybe it's too late to apology or to say that wasn't an excuse bla bla. What you said was the result of your female 'Avoid_potential_rapists' and 'avoid_omega_males' instincts. Nothing wrong with that, those instincts help your survival and the improvement of the species, don't listen to the others who are lecturing you about this because they ain't any better.

I typically just hate romantic movies in general...

But sometimes I don't even believe in love or romance, and that it's all a scam. So yeah. ;D
