you know the saying: alpha is a man who is very succesful with women.
Except that's
not what an alpha male is. You are thinking of "player". A "player" is a man who has sex with very many women (and their looks are not relevent to his being a player). An alpha male is the male (not confined to humans) who is the leader of a group. In some animal species and in some human groups, getting his choice of the females is a perk of the position. But it is a perk only. It is not what defines the alpha as alpha. It is the group leadership which defines him as alpha.
It is a reproductive strategy among some primate species, and among some human groups, for a lower ranking male (not alpha) to have sex out of the sight line of the alpha male and with as many females as he can get away with. This won't make him an alpha, but it does prevent his genes from disappearing. Human males do this sometimes too. If they are low ranking (not the leader in their group) they may be called a player but that won't make them alpha. Some alphas are also players but being a player does not make a man an alpha.
