I’m used to everyone around me having a life while I don’t.

yeah, sorta feels like one is still at the starting gate of life while everybody else has already crossed the finish line and are celebrating their victory over the next race, and one has remained at the starting block so long that it was paved over into a parking lot. :?

I can't really think anything good about myself, so I guess that makes everything about me not a negative. How's that for a list?

Lets be frank, you can say that it is other people at fault for why you are alone, but chances are, it is all on you. Recognize that fact.

You know what's old? People who generalize like the OP. Making fun of others due to their sad situation that they may not have any control over? From a condition that they didn't ask for? And it's entertaining for you, well congratulations. I feel so bad for you.
True it's probably wrong to automatically blame others for their predicament. But not everyone does that.
Yeah, this forum is full of whiners...with justifiable reasons behind such whining.
Let me entertain myself by calling you a heartless prick :)

Have a wonderful day!

At the end of the day this is a support forum. Telling people who have a cognitive abnormality that makes it difficult for them to adapt in our modern world that they need to suck it up and pull themselves up from their boot straps is the last thing they need to hear. It seems like every time an Aspie manages to get accepted by the cool kids (neurotypicals), they are like the first ones to s**t on their less socially successful fellow Aspies. It's ridiculous. They are like the Bill Cosbys of Aspiedom. Instead of encouraging assimilation into a largely neurotypical world and telling Aspies to fight an uphill battle, it would be nice if neurotypicals were encouraged to be more tolerant of neurological diversity. Much like society is forced to tolerate racial diversity and differing sexual orientations.

Aspies have contributed to society for generations. It's not like we all just popped out of thin air. We had to come from somewhere (unless you buy into the psuedo-science mumbo jumbo that vaccines and gluten is causing all of this autism). The issue is that modern society has changed and doesn't recognize the contributions that we make to society anymore. Everything is about social skills now. What happened to the strong silent type who could get things done? Jobs for those people have been shipped off to China and India. This is the lost generation. It's not just Aspies. Neurotypicals of this generation are pretty screwed too as it is.

The civil rights movement and LGBT rights would have never come about if blacks and LGBTs were complacement and merely assimilated into the status quo.

It's akin to telling people with no legs that they are losers because they can't sprout legs and walk-- it's stupid and short-sighted.

Never change, auntblabby. I know a lot of people here, including ones who were my friends, or at least people I agreed with regularly, have become just as mean and nasty as NTs.

I wish I was more like you, actually, and didn't let a lot of stuff bother me. But injustice, meanness, and ignorance bothers me to no end. Especially when the people dispensing it crap the same color as everyone else.

I can't empathize with people who wouldn't think I was a good partner. I am as good as I know how to be, and that's 'cause if there's something about myself that I don't like, I fix it. But my empathy was always s**t, so it shouldn't surprise me that nobody likes me.

nobody's perfect this side of the veil. one has to pick and choose which flaws are least important.
