I'd vote for Tarantella and Starvingartist as mods, because
a) they're pretty badass as far as women go
b) i bet neither of them want to be mods. This makes them ideal.

Even if they tear strips off me and chase me off WP.

Omg, you are a horrible person. You're totally right, I don't want to be a mod. Something about single mom, overemployed. Nope sorry.

also, as far as women go? Ahem.

That would be a great idea, if all the feminist discussion could be confined somewhere and moderated. Of course, not an ideal response from Alex, probably he isn't reading the board?

Women's forum should be the women's forum, that is, having a penis should preclude you from reading or even posting there.

Not that women should get special treatment in an ideal world or an ideal forum, but this is neither. The fact that we have a separate forum fur teh ladies suggests there's an underlying problem.

Not trying to apportion blame BTW.

I'm one.
I'm just as constrained by Alex's moderation policy as the rest of the moderators are, unfortunately.

What useful changes can you think of that might allow you and the other mods to curb the misogyny around here? Shameful as it is, I've helped contribute to that environment, so I'd be happy to lend my vote toward whatever would be of assistance.

Alex has directed us to basically go soft on sexist comments and "let people look stupid".
StarvingArtist and tarantella64 have been encouraging people to contact Alex directly to let him know that they are bothered by his policy; if enough people do that he might do something.

I don't see rampant sexism. Rather, I see lots of people projecting their own opinions on people's comments and taking them in their own context without much in the way of trying to understand where the person is coming from.

Which means, I see rampant stupidity, but that's the norm.

Gotcha. I'll send him a message and add my name to the pile.

I suppose you also don't think misogyny had anything to do with Elliot Rogers murdering a bunch of people either? Perhaps we should all just stop "projecting" and take what he did in context, yea? Understand where he's coming from? Hint: It was probably a deep, dark pit of seething misogyny.

His hate for women led him to murder those women. His hate for the noise of his roommates led him to murder them (I think it was the noise they made). Plus other things too.

See, you're projecting.

I dunno man, when a guy goes on multiple hateful rants directed toward women, and then proceeds to murder women, I'd say my "projecting" is rather accurate.

Also, Who_Am_I and others, I sent this to Alex, I hope it helps:

Quote:
Who_Am_I, starvingartist, tarantella64, me, and others (Hyperlexian would have many things to say about this topic) have been very concerned about the levels of chauvinism and misogyny present in the Love and Dating section of WP.

I've been told that you've advocated a policy of "letting them look stupid", but I'm afraid that such a passive approach is simply not effective. I myself have, in the past, shamefully contributed to a hostile environment for women in this part of the forums and would like to pay my penitence by helping to erase the environment I helped create.

Please reconsider your policies in that respect so that the mods have the power necessary to help create a more welcoming environment for our autistic sisters.

Thank you for your time.

See, you're making little sense.

How do you go from, what I said (that I don't see rampant sexism), to questioning what I think about the reasons for some murders (and that I probably have a sexist opinion).

That itself is on the same level as sexism. Think about that for a moment. You're doing exactly what you're supposedly fighting against.

Before I even continue...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Psychological_projection

This IS what you're talking about, right? Are you trying to accuse the numerous female posters here of being sexist against women?
