Don't do it. Don't watch Deadpool.

No really it's an excellent movie but it does involve Deadpool entering into an LTR with this really pretty girl who makes Star Wars references. Watching Deadpool might just make you feel worse.

For those who are single, perhaps they should remember that it used to be a Valentine's Day tradition to send a card to the one you like who doesn't know you like them yet, rather than to someone you're already in a relationship with. In other words Valentine's Day used to be very much for the benefit of single people, so they could start a relationship, rather than for the benefit of people who are already in a relationship.

That's the whole point of giving a card to someone you want to be in a relationship with but aren't in one with yet. There's still time time for that folks.

Or if you want to have a really old fashioned Valentine's Day you could celebrate the life and martyrdom of Saint Valentine, who was tortured to death by the Romans for the crime of suggesting we should be nice to each other. He didn't really do anything romantic. The association of his day with romance was made much later by Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th century.
Too late i watched it and it didnt make me feel worse, i didnt care about the relationship crap that deadpool had, but the funny stuff he says and how he acts while hes slaughtering his enemies. Also the boobies and cussing alot made my day. Ill be going to the starwars bar today http://www.7starsbar.com/ Maybe with luck ill run into a geeky chick there and get a phone number.

Fair enough. It sounds like you had an enjoyable Singles Awareness Day.

Rather than that, I prefer to remember what happened in Chicago 87 years ago.

I did have a date today, went to a bday party of people she only knows and danced with her...it was so stressful somehow.

Well she is not a potential gf or anything serious though, she's 41 years old who just wants someone to have fun with, things started as FWB thing, she showed me her daughter's pic, she is 20 years old O_O.

But this evening she told me she's afraid she's starting to get attached to me, and now my commitment-phobia kicked in again.

And whoever passes the law that bans relationships is probably going to be very unpopular after that.

As much as this is true, it is still a day where those in relationships basically flaunt it to the world, and singles are especially reminded of the fact.

The recent counter to this, making Valentine's day 'singles awareness day' (aka S.A.D.) for the single of us, still isn't as visible or common.

You don't see many S.A.D. day cards, but the store is rampant with Valentine's day cards.

Also, it's originally supposed to be a day about celebrating all kinds of love, including the love of family and friends, and again, this concept is also invisible and uncommon.

Simply put, lovers and those in relationships overrule Valentine's day over anyone else, this day belongs to them, no matter how much we try to argue it's about love of others in general or the love of yourself and your independence.

It's kind of like if Christmas was only for Christians and no one else. Wouldn't you feel a little jealous all your christian friends are gift giving, celebreating good times with family, etc. while every non-christian treated it like a normal day?

Normally i file valentine's day off as a non-event since I never have anyone in my life, and normally it doesn't bother me. Unless some one brings it up.

An I work in Japan now where the custom is, girls give chocolate to boys, the boys buy presents. and again, i was treating this like it was a kids ritual. Then one of my co-workers, one of the Japanese teachers starts asking me how many mountains of chocolate I got for valentines day... I hadn't got any, and basically figured it was irrelevant to me. but... I don't know... the fact that there is now an expectation for me to receive stuff from... I don't know who... its just a sh***y reminder that I am alone out here.
