Male fashion and style of dress feedback?
For instance the way this guy dresses is what I (as an independent, smart, quirky girl) would like:

Or this guy in the orange:

Or this guy's sporty/practical clothes (plus a cat; when in doubt wear a cat!):

I'd imagine it's accompanied by a plain t-shirt and practical pants.
Lol how ironic, my most effortless look still makes me look like I'm putting an effort in.
I don't know, I just found it ironic jeans are more causal than regular shorts.
Jeans require effort. Right size, right shading, actually putting them on, buttoning them, getting a good belt to go with it.
Just throwing on some loose board shorts, no matter what color or style, no matter how well they actually match your t-shirt or not, is far more lazier.
Maybe I'm just good at matching my shorts and t-shirts then - I do choose combinations carefully.
Anyway, looks like some RWBY merch it is then!! http://www.redbubble.com/shop/rwby+t-shirts
I like the show, maybe wearing a shirt can help me instantly find out easier which people like it or not.
Thing about jeans is, I dislike wearing them most of the time, especially 'casually'. Only ever time I do is when they're with something less casual, e.g. the argyle vest, cap, dress shirts, etc.
Do you think this shirt: http://www.redbubble.com/people/darkmir ... &p=t-shirt
Could go well with these shorts? http://tinypic.com/usermedia.php?uo=uW4 ... t4pUSjZgfM
I don't know, I'm starting to agree with what another user said to me in another thread of mine - that's it's ridiculous people judge you just for how you dress and it's depressing that it should matter.
He said I look fine, very good even, and should just approach females dressed however I am, even if it means they had a wrong impression of me first but changed their minds about me once I actually opened my mouth.
I feel it's lose-lose as you can't dress how you want without coming across the wrong way, and to come across the way you do want to, you may have to dress a way you don't.
Thing is, I am not a super nerdy/geeky type male myself. Not much at all.
I'm more an artistic/bro/hippy kind of mix. Doesn't mean I'm not attracted to nerdy/geeky females.
Not interested much at all in 'geek culture' - anime, Young Adult fiction (actually my least favorite genre, except for Harry Potter), etc. Sci-fi is alright, my interest in fantasy is very limited.
Thank you for your suggestions, but the 'plaid shirt, casual jeans, man-bun, lumberjack beard, geeky star wars/sci-fi/fantasy reference shirt' will never be me, but I do feel it's what I'd have to do just to attract the types I want to.
A RWBY shirt with casual shorts and sneakers is as close as I'd be willing to get to that.
Maybe I should just dress how I want (the pictures I've shown at the start of the thread, with slight changes such as ditching the crappy sunglasses and getting some better shades) and just let my personality do the work.
If people want to get a false idea of me from the very beginning, oh well. I like my style, and it sums me up well.
The nerdier/geekier females who actually like a more broish male, while extremely, seemingly impossibly rare, should be able to pick-me-out instantly as one.
As I've said before, I just want to be 'a handsome guy' not 'a handsome guy who is clearly an X'
Your suggestions, while I can see how they might be good, give off the hipster/geek leaning guy message to me.
Neutrally good-looking, without leaning in any particular direction. Someone so neutral you can't possibly guess their personality, and they also happen to clearly care about how they look and look aesthetically alright. I wonder if that's just far too unrealistic to strive for?

Oh yes, Redbubble is a fantastic site! The options are endless!
Yes I think that shirt would go well with your existing shorts. It would be a nice way of melding your two styles.
Definitely, don't try to force a change in appearance just to please others. I should have mentioned that you don't have to go the 'nerdy'/'hipster' route (it was hard to find pictures that captured my thoughts)(Actually, I think the hipster types tend to give off a douchey vibe). You say you see yourself as being a mixture of artsy/bro/hippy, so what do you think about bringing some more artsy and hippy type things into your clothes to fully represent yourself? Sites like Redbubble, DesignByHumans, and Society6 have hundreds of various artists creating some unique and amazing designs. I think having a mixture of the three (which are delightfully contradictory) would be a great way of showing that you're more than meets the eye. And it could achieve that neutral look your after, by managing to cancel out the starkness of just one style.
Oh and don't worry, I would never encourage man-buns (it's such a strange trend).
You also have to think about what kind of girls/women you want to attract. You're 17 and I'm almost 28, so we're trying to attract two completely different age groups. At least, that's what I assume lol. If you want to attract younger girls(around your age), dress more boyish. If you want women who are older/like a more mature look, I mentioned some good options. Personally, I hate the hipster look, but that's just me.
Yes I agree a mature look just might attract a more mature audience.
I don't know if I posted the message earlier but the truth is I actually prefer slightly older females and once 18 would like to date older ones.
And yes I do have to think about what kind I want to attract but also without sacrificing my happiness dressing in a way I don't.
The cool geek/hipster look that is popular nowadays with the plaid shirt and the manbun and the skinny jeans and the non-prescription glasses and such is not my type.
Well I guess I'll dress the way I want but take all the advice into consideration and experiment with different styles and see what results it gets me.
Truth is I haven't done much real-life tests with anything except regular style/normal clothes 2 which is just how I normally dress.
Very interesting ideas I've been given and I guess really I am at that age where it's all about finding yourself and what works for you.
I think it's cool CommanderKeen that at least someone agrees with the one where i have the coat and pants, aside from the crap shades.
Manbuns are stupid lol. Personally, I like fashion from the 80s and early 90s. Like I said before though, how the guys from Supernatural dress. Although, Dean doesn't usually wear a band shirt under his button up shirt, but that's a good look too; instead of just a plain shirt under the button up.
Unfortunately all I've got are some regular black sneakers and some ugly looking dress shoes (they're pretty bad at least in my opinion).
The sneakers fit-in decently with most of my outfits but I can see it being out of place sometimes.
I'm a size 14 U.S.
It's hard enough to find shoes my size in regular stores, but basically impossible to in thrift stores. My black sneakers were one of only two pairs of size 14 in the entire store when they were bought.
I get most of my clothes from thrift stores but choose very carefully obviously so i end up with stuff just as new and quality looking as brand name stuff from legit stores.
Shoes however, must be looked for at brand name stores (expensive), or ordered online (even more expensive).

I'm wide footed, so I feel your pain. In terms of dress shoes, buy wingtips. Everything else is junk as far as dress shoes, Imo. Converse and Vans, or general skate boarding shoes are good, sadly I don't fit in them lol. I'm hoping my feet get narrow enough to fit in these after my surgery: http://www.zappos.com/pf-flyers-center- ... brand_page
