Neither am I. This, for me, has nothing to do with whether they are happy or not. I was actually thinking mostly of younger people around my age who have only been together a couple of weeks, rather than weddings. I don't like weddings either though. I
Not because I dislike seeing people happy, but because I find it pathetic that they feel they need to broadcast their feelings for each other that way. Also, I despise how people are expected to buy presents for someone when they get married.
It has nothing to do with them being happy or not though. If I know two people are in a relationship and they're happy together then that doesn't bother me in the slightest, it doesn't make me happy, sad, jealous, angry, anything else. It's when they 'shove it in your face' that I get pissed off.

That's the point some of us are trying to make. It isn't that the happiness of others is wrong, it is that not everyone wants to have that forced upon them.

I can't really think of a "nicer" way to say it. Sure, it could be worded more nicely, but it would still carry the same weight. Might as well be completely direct about it rather than make it all flowery for no reason. That would be like nicely telling someone that you hate them.

"I am sad to say that I find you to be rather contrary to everything I hold dear, and as such I must terminate any further contact with you, lest I begin to become ill at your very presence."

Just doesn't sound right when compared to "I f*****g hate you" :P

I don't want to be forced to hear about war, politics, murder, etc. That's why I don't watch the news. If I don't like the look of something, I don't look at it. If I don't like the smell of something, I leave the room. If I don't like the sound of something, I listen to something else, leave the room, or put in earplugs.

So to avoid having this forced upon us, we should simply not go outside of where we live? There's no off switch for people as there would be for a television, and you can't change the channel. Well, there's no legal off switch, and if you use it you run the risk of breaking the unit.

That's just it though, if it's in public, you see it. I don't care what consenting adults do in the privacy of their own home, but I can't just 'look away' if they're sat opposite me on a train; I'll have already seen it. It should be them who have to piss off and find somewhere else to do that.

So move somewhere where it is frowned upon if you can't just deal with it. Or tell people, "Please stop that, it makes me uncomfortable." My point was, if you don't like it, either do something about it or find a way to deal with it.

I'm really sensitive to smells. When I smell perfumes, it is incredibly unpleasant. People pass by my cubicle at work all the time, and most of them wear perfume. I don't like it, but I deal with it.

I am sensitive to perfume as well, but that's different. Kissing can wait 'till they're home. Are people so obsessed with each other that they can't stop licking each other and spitting over each other in public. They should wait 'till the get home or go and do it behind a bush.
Which country would you suggest I moved to?

Again with the "deal with it" response. Why should it be upon others? There's an available compromise, but no, some people don't give a damn. That's the issue. "I want this so you can deal with it, so stop complaining or you move."

You ever tried asking someone to stop with the PDA? They'll either look at you like you are crazy or proceed to step it up a notch just to irritate you. Real successful. So it is back to expecting others to get out of the way since someone is somehow more important than someone else. Public space is public, if someone's actions are considered offensive or off-putting, they can continue in private and everyone wins. Or they can act like they are more important as a person and expect everyone else to get the hell out of their planet.

If you don't like reading about people complaining about this, go read another thread. :P

This is starting to remind me of a discussion of a public smoking ban... only without the health risks. :D
